Learn about the culture and cuisine of ethnic groups in Hanoi

From December 1, 2025 to January 4, 2026, at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism (Hanoi), a series of December activities will take place with the theme Welcoming the New Year 2026.

The program recreates the traditional culture of ethnic minorities through the highland market space and New Year activities, contributing to regional solidarity and supporting community development.

More than 100 people and artisans from 16 ethnic groups including Nung, Tay, Dao, Mong, Muong, Lao, Thai, Kho Mu, Ta Oi, Ba Na, Xo Dang, Gia Rai, Co Tu, Raglai, E De and Khmer, from 11 localities: Thai Nguyen, Hanoi , Phu Tho, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Hue, Gia Lai, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Can Tho participated in the festival.

The highlight of this festival season is the cultural space of the Co Tu people ( Da Nang City) at the "Common House". On December 6-7, 2025, the Co Tu people will reenact the Twinning Ceremony (Pro Ngooch) - a unique ritual to resolve conflicts, unite the community, and preserve the great solidarity of the village. Along with that is the exchange program Echo of the Great Forest with Ly singing performances, folk performances, musical instrument performances and Tan Tung Da Da heritage dance.

In particular, from January 1 to 4, 2026, the Village will welcome 24 Khmu and Mong people from Huoi Mot commune ( Son La ) to participate in the performance of the Harvest Prayer Ceremony, an important ritual of the Khmu people with rituals of worship, honoring rice plants and bustling festivities.
