Currently, outstanding consumer loans reach about 3 million billion VND, accounting for more than 20% of total outstanding credit in the entire economy . In developed countries, this ratio is 3 times higher, showing that consumer credit in Vietnam still has a lot of room to develop. According to experts, developing consumer credit will limit the situation of black credit, supporting output for production and business.
Statistics show that there is a good growth in consumer credit such as loans for purchasing household appliances, equipment and daily living expenses of individuals and households (accounting for 27% of total outstanding consumer credit). This growth has a positive impact on the production and trading of consumer goods, household appliances and essential goods as well as commercial services to serve people's daily life.
It is forecasted that consumer credit will continue to grow and be effective. At this time, commercial banks are accelerating the implementation of a series of preferential credit programs for individual customers.
