According to Microsoft, the corporation has opened an investigation and started monitoring the distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack activity of a cyberattack group that the corporation calls Storm-1359 after identifying this threat.
DDoS attacks are carried out by directing large amounts of Internet traffic towards targeted host computers in a relatively simple way to cause them to stop working.
Due to the attacks, Microsoft's 365 software suite, including Teams and Outlook, was down for more than two hours, affecting thousands of users on June 5, and was down again briefly on the morning of June 6.
This is the fourth time Microsoft has faced a power outage in a year. The software maker said it has found no evidence of access to or damage to customer data.
