Lao Cai province rain and storms caused 47 houses to have their roofs blown off or collapse, causing estimated damage of 500 million VND.

The thunderstorm occurred on the afternoon of July 19, in Lao Cai province, there was moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind, causing great damage to people's houses and property. As of 11:00 a.m. on July 20, the estimated damage was about 500 million VND.

Specifically, 47 houses of people in communes and wards were damaged, including 1 house in Quy Mong commune that completely collapsed, 1 house with over 70% of its roof blown off, and the remaining 45 houses with 20 to 70% of their roofs blown off.

Storms affected traffic on inter-commune and inter-village roads in Yen Bai ward, Lam Thuong commune, Tan Linh commune and Quy Mong commune. Some areas of crops, fruit trees and forestry trees were broken and damaged, causing productivity loss.

Immediately after the disaster, local authorities mobilized shock forces, police, army, militia and people to urgently overcome the consequences, re-roof houses, clear fallen trees, ensure traffic safety and people's daily lives.
