Tran Truong Gia Bao is currently a lecturer and the Youth Union Secretary of the Faculty of Political Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, Can Tho University. He said that he dreamed of becoming a teacher since childhood. Due to his passion for learning about politics, he decided to choose a field of study closely related to this area: civic education.
"When I was a second-year student, I was entrusted with a position in the Propaganda Department of the university's Youth Union. Even after becoming a lecturer and returning to the department to teach, I continued working with the Youth Union and was still assigned to propaganda work. This is very special and makes me very happy. Thanks to this, I had the honor of receiving the Ly Tu Trong Award in 2026," Bao shared.

According to Bao, to attract more attention, the propaganda work of the youth union must be youthful and constantly innovative in its approach to communication. Especially in today's digital age, social media is very powerful and has a profound impact on young people. This motivates him to actively learn about artificial intelligence and keep up with the trends and tastes of young people to create appealing programs. He pays close attention to designing vibrant and eye-catching propaganda posters to capture people's attention.
In addition to his role, Mr. Bao is also the Vice Chairman of the Young Theorists Club at Can Tho University. Each club meeting focuses on a specific theme, and the presentation methods extend beyond just meeting rooms to include visits to historical sites, watching historical films, and interacting with former youth volunteers. Most recently, he organized a screening of the film "Red Rain" for the students. Following the film, the presenters immediately engaged in a discussion on the beautiful image of soldiers during wartime and the value of peace. The presentation combined visual imagery with analysis of its meaning, resulting in a very positive impact.
According to Bao, student union activities require a comprehensive approach, encompassing areas such as propaganda and education , sports, recreation, community volunteering, and international youth activities. The university environment is vibrant, dynamic, and full of youthful energy and enthusiasm. Therefore, from the beginning, many doubted his ability to pursue student union activities long-term, given his "oversized" physique and weight of over 120kg.

Bao's dedication to youth union activities has inspired many people.

However, Bảo believes that this is a special advantage to develop his own unique identity. He maintains his confidence and strives to be dynamic in order to successfully complete all assigned tasks. "For example, even if I can't play sports well, I can still manage and organize activities for everyone to participate in. Thinking that way, I feel I can contribute to all programs and activities that accompany students. That's why people have given me the nickname Big Bảo to distinguish me from others with the same name," Bảo happily said.
With confidence and dedication, over the past year, Mr. Bao has accompanied students in carrying out many meaningful activities related to remembering one's roots, scientific research, caring for children, environmental protection, and realizing entrepreneurial ideas. He consistently excels in his teaching duties and has published 5 scientific papers (3 of which he is the main author). In particular, he is very pleased to have organized many training courses on writing political essays to defend the Party's ideological foundation and combat erroneous and hostile viewpoints for youth union members both inside and outside the university.
