The Vietnamese national spirit when 'A Million Hearts Beat as One'

The patriotic spirit, national pride, and strength of national unity of the Vietnamese people have contributed to the success of major national events... and continue to inspire faith and hope in the new era.

Heroic heartbeat

Those fortunate enough to be present on the Thanh Nien - Thuy Khue road in Hanoi on the morning of September 2nd, 2025, will never forget the moving atmosphere as the military and civilian forces marched and sang the military march into Ba Dinh Square. At that moment, every street in Hanoi shared the same heroic belief and warm bond between the military and the people during the A80 event.

The year 2025 will see a series of important national events and holidays. In particular, the A50 commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, and the A80 commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd in Hanoi, have become more relevant than ever to people nationwide. These events honor the past, affirm the future of the country, and have become a "parade" of patriotism and national unity, reminding us that today's independence and freedom are the result of countless sacrifices and the responsibility of every Vietnamese person to maintain peace.

During those events, from the elderly to the young, everyone heard, experienced, felt, and was moved. Gratitude towards previous generations, a sense of community, and a sense of responsibility to the nation were ignited naturally, like breathing. Behind the scenes, all relevant social forces were mobilized to the fullest extent, deployed synchronously, not only participating in the parades and marches, but also affirming their presence everywhere, at all times, proactively and readily ensuring safety, cleanliness, and civility day and night on every road across the country.

2025 was also a year of intense and severe natural disasters, surpassing many historical records and causing serious damage nationwide. Along with the decisive involvement of the entire political system, domestic and international resources were mobilized promptly and effectively, contributing to helping people in disaster-stricken areas stabilize their lives and restore production.

Along with rescue efforts, the Party, State, and Government have urgently directed localities to implement measures to overcome the consequences and support people in stabilizing their lives. Hundreds of tons of rice, food, medicine, and essential goods have been delivered directly to flood-affected people. Ministries, sectors, and localities have promptly opened reserves and distributed support to people and localities severely affected; resolved insurance claims, and provided policies to support interest rates and loans to help people restore production. In particular, the "lightning-fast" Quang Trung Campaign to rebuild houses for people is being strongly implemented nationwide by the State, ensuring completion before the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, ensuring that "no one is left behind" at the beginning of the new year.

Most touching was the nationwide effort to overcome the consequences of the floods. From North to South, images of charitable vehicles lined up heading towards the flooded areas. Each bag of rice, box of instant noodles, set of clothes, blankets, and other necessities delivered to the affected people carried the heartfelt compassion of the nation. The fundraising campaigns launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) to support people in the affected areas received support from all walks of life. Images of kitchens burning brightly all night, cooking thousands of meals for flood victims, and the donated clothes collected out of solidarity and compassion demonstrated the spirit of mutual support and unity.

And stories of individuals like "knight" Dao Dang Cong Trung, who spent nearly two months piloting rescue boats across the three regions of the country during storms and floods, have become heartwarming tales of humanity, always present to save lives, provide relief, and supply victims in isolated areas... leaving behind noble deeds.

Through his personal account with over 1 million followers, "Huy Nguyen" (Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy), who has 20 years of experience researching disaster risk reduction, climate change, and livelihoods, spent countless nights analyzing, evaluating, and providing accurate weather predictions (for Typhoon No. 11 in 2025). He continuously posted articles forecasting, warning, and guiding people in the northern provinces to respond promptly to rising floodwaters; at the same time, he tirelessly called on groups, teams, and friends on Facebook to use drones to transport emergency relief supplies to hard-to-reach areas and conduct search and rescue operations... sharing the same heartfelt concern with people across the country who were watching over their compatriots in the flood-stricken areas during this critical time.

In times of facing daunting challenges such as natural disasters, floods, and epidemics, the Vietnamese spirit of "mutual support" shines through, creating a strong sense of unity and determination, and continuing to write proud stories in the new year.
