Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Long Xuyen Ward Tran Phuoc Bao said: "Every year, the Executive Committee of the Farmers' Association of the Ward plans to establish one more branch and two professional farmer associations. These organizations have created close links between members. Members are supported with training in knowledge, application of scientific and technical advances in production, exchange information on market prices and varieties; share experiences in production, business, and product consumption; and are supported with vocational training and loans from the province's farmer support fund."

With the advantage of a compact organization, moderate number of members, strict operating regulations, appropriate and practical activities, ensuring the principle of "5 together", the professional farmers' association and groups have basically overcome the limitations and difficulties in attracting and gathering members over the past years. Through the association and groups, the Ward Farmers' Association guides farmers to build 7 demonstration models on safe cultivation, livestock and aquaculture according to VietGAP standards, linking production and consumption according to the value chain... Farmers and members of the association and groups use and access the internet to exploit market information, prices, and new and advanced production processes to serve production and business.

With support to create the product “Bodhi leaf painting” that meets 3-star OCOP standards, Ms. Mai Anh Phuong - owner of Do Mai establishment said: “From the connection of the Ward Farmers’ Association, I expanded the market. The product has its own unique features so it easily attracts people’s attention. Each painting is associated with a story, a life message”.

Recently, the Ward Farmers' Association has introduced 161 farming households to loans with preferential interest rates of nearly 6 billion VND from various funds, helping members have capital to apply technical advances in production, forming effective collective economic models. At the same time, the branches and farmer associations have been connected and coordinated with businesses and scientists to support the building of agricultural product brands, participating in signing product consumption contracts with Angimex - Kitoku Limited Liability Company, An Dinh Company over 200 hectares annually... Farmers know that profits will be achieved, so they proactively produce crops, contributing significantly to the local socio-economic development.

“To remove limitations in the activities of branches and farmer associations, we will send branch and farmer association officials to participate in training courses to improve knowledge, methods, skills in organizing and mobilizing the masses, leadership, management, operation skills, and knowledge of agricultural cultivation. In particular, we will promote the establishment of new professional farmer associations and groups in the areas with agricultural production; nominate good and prestigious farmer members in production and business to be the core to arrange branch and group leaders. Provide guidance on building and replicating models of professional farmer associations and groups, collective economic models, and cooperatives in agriculture,” said Mr. Tran Phuoc Bao.

“Associations and groups must regularly innovate the content and form of activities, associated with building strong associations in all aspects. Strengthen the gathering and guidance of farmers to participate in cooperative economic forms, linking production according to value chains; support farmers in digital transformation, e-commerce, digital technology, and application of high technology in agricultural production,” emphasized Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers’ Association Phan Tung Lam.

Up to now, Long Xuyen ward has 2 professional farmer associations, 6 professional farmer associations, 4 farmer clubs established with diverse production and business sectors, mainly in the fields of cultivation, animal husbandry, services, aquaculture...
