- On the afternoon of May 21, the Provincial Forest Protection Department held a seminar to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Forest Protection Force (May 21, 1973 - May 21, 2025).

At the seminar, delegates reviewed the construction and development journey of the Provincial Forest Protection Department and the achievements made in recent years.

Lang Son People's Forest Protection Department (now the Provincial Forest Protection Department) was established under Decision No. 53-QD dated January 15, 1974 of the Director General of the General Department of Forestry. It is one of the earliest established Forest Protection Departments in the North.

Over 52 years of construction and development, the Provincial Forest Protection Department has constantly strived, overcome difficulties and challenges, completed the tasks assigned by the Party and the State; affirmed its important role and position in the cause of forest management, protection and development in the province.

Over the past years, the Provincial Forest Protection Department, together with local authorities and people, has done a good job of managing, protecting and developing sustainable forests. Specifically, every year, the area of concentrated forest plantations in the whole province reaches over 9,000 hectares, with about 2.3 million scattered trees of various types; the forest cover rate has increased over the years (from 63.4% in 2021 to 64.1% in 2024).

At the same time, the Forestry Department has also paid attention to the management of forestry seed quality. Up to now, in the whole province, there are 39 sources of forestry seed providing seeds and cuttings, 739 units producing and trading forestry seed, with an output of over 300 million seedlings of all kinds/year, of which over 90% are acacia cuttings; the average annual forestry production value reaches over 4,000 billion VND... In addition, the Forestry Department has effectively implemented forestry development policies, contributing to accelerating the shift of the forestry economic structure towards concentrated commodity production, increasing income for people...

Speaking at the seminar, the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment acknowledged and praised the achievements of the Provincial Forest Protection Department over the past 52 years. He emphasized that in the coming time, the department will continue to improve its advisory capacity, apply information technology in forest management, protection and development; coordinate with relevant units in implementing forest management and protection; cultivate and improve legal skills, perform well the tasks; proactively and flexibly adapt after implementing the 2-level government...
