Seminar on application of high quality, low emission rice cultivation process

(CTO) - On November 11, the Soc Trang Province Agricultural Seed and Extension Center under the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City organized a seminar on applying high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation processes to serve the implementation of 1 million hectares of high-quality rice at the Soc Dong Hamlet Cultural House, Tan Thanh Commune, Can Tho City.

Here, 60 farmers and agricultural production cooperatives listened to agricultural experts report and evaluate the operation of the measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) system in high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation models. Farmers and cooperatives were also instructed on cultivation techniques; harvest management and post-harvest handling; straw management in the fields; trends in development and application of technology in agriculture, etc.

Agricultural experts also shared about the difficulties and shortcomings in cultivating high-quality, low-emission rice due to the impact of climate change causing flooding during the rainy and stormy season and saltwater intrusion in the dry season, greatly affecting the application of farming measures and techniques recommended by the industry.
