In the first 6 months of 2024, Lam Dong's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate increased by 2.97%, ranking 58th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide and 5th in the Central Highlands region. According to the assessment of Acting Director of the Lam Dong Statistics Office Nguyen Cong Thanh, this is Lam Dong's lowest growth rate in many years. From always being number 1 in the Central Highlands region in terms of GRDP index, in the first 6 months of 2024, Lam Dong dropped to 5th place out of 5 Central Highlands provinces. Lam Dong's consumer price index (CPI) in the first 6 months of 2024 also increased slowly (up 3.9%) compared to the same period in 2023. In the growth rate of the whole province, the agriculture - forestry - fishery sector increased by 3.13%, the service sector increased by 5.05%, product tax minus product debt increased by 3.8%, and the industry - construction sector decreased by 2% compared to the same period in 2023.

Also in the first 6 months of 2024, Lam Dong had 735 newly registered enterprises, with a total registered capital of more than 3,925 billion VND, an increase of 2.7% in the number of enterprises and an increase of 1.3% in registered capital. In addition, in the first 6 months of 2024, Lam Dong also had 230 enterprises resuming operations, an increase of 14.2% over the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, the number of enterprises temporarily suspending operations in Lam Dong was 537, an increase of 19.5% and 110 dissolved enterprises, an increase of 8.9% over the same period in 2023. According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh, the socio -economic situation of Lam Dong in the first 6 months of 2024 faced many difficulties, slow growth due to many reasons, both objective and subjective. Objective reasons: the impact of the world economic context continues to be complicated, the severe drought situation causes great difficulties for agricultural production, as well as the operation of hydropower plants, along with some subjective reasons such as: slow disbursement of public investment capital, tightening policies on mining (some industries have a decrease in growth rate compared to the same period in 2023: mining, electricity production and distribution, construction...). According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh, in the first 6 months of 2024, Lam Dong only attracted 1 agricultural processing investment project, with a registered capital of 35 billion VND.
However, in the first 6 months of 2024, Lam Dong still has bright spots of growth, for example, total retail sales of goods and service revenue is estimated at over 41,895 billion VND, up 22.22% over the same period in 2023. Of which, total retail sales of goods are estimated at over 29,149 billion VND, up 20% over the same period in 2023 and revenue from food and accommodation services is estimated at over 7,588 billion VND, up 16.09%. The total number of guests served by accommodation establishments is estimated at over 3,415 billion VND, up nearly 14% over the same period in 2023. Lam Dong's total export turnover in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated at 478.9 million USD, up 11.05% over the same period in 2023 and reaching 48.62% of the 2024 plan.
