At the first SEA Games hosted by Thailand after 18 years, the host country will hold a grand and outstanding Opening Ceremony to impress friends in the region and internationally, and at the same time consider this as a driving force for economic and tourism development.

The art program of the 33rd SEA Games Opening Ceremony includes 5 chapters.
The first chapter will take the audience "back in time" to the origins of the SEA Games, when Thailand hosted the first edition in 1959, also in Bangkok. The host country wants to ignite the passion for sports in the audience.
Chapter two shows strength and fighting spirit through various performance techniques, music , sports and lighting. The friendship and solidarity of the 11 ASEAN countries will be clearly revealed in these performances.
Chapter three is set to be dedicated to BamBam, with a special performance. The 28-year-old singer and rapper is the pride of Thailand, with over 18 million followers on Instagram.
Chapter four brings together many world-famous Thai people, from athletes to beauty queens, artists, stars, singers, musicians and musicians. Each person will have their own time and space to show their talents.
The final chapter, as usual, was the torch relay and the lighting of the cauldron, but in a new format. 28-year-old former female taekwondo champion, Panipak Wongpattanakit, was given the responsibility of carrying the final torch and lighting it on the cauldron.

Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports Atthakorn Sirilattayakon said preparations for the 33rd SEA Games Opening Ceremony have been completed on schedule, despite many difficulties. Thailand is aiming for an international-standard opening ceremony that combines traditional arts and modern technology.
Mr. Atthakorn Sirilattayakon emphasized that the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games will convey the message of joy, readiness and Thailand's central position in the Southeast Asian region.
In addition, Minister Atthakorn Sirilattayakon said that the Opening Ceremony will be a stage for actors, singers, and athletes from many generations - including many famous people in the international arena.
The 33rd SEA Games also aims to be a “green” event, with strict environmental requirements: Reducing emissions, using recycled materials and limiting the impact of light and sound on the surrounding area. Therefore, many performances use simulations instead of traditional fireworks.
The highlight of the Opening Ceremony was the torch lighting ceremony. The plan was chosen after many meetings, balancing between impressiveness and ecological factors.

At the Opening Ceremony, 11 parade groups with about 500 athletes will enter the main area of Rajamangala in turn, with Brunei being the first country and host Thailand being the last group.
The 33rd SEA Games will take place from December 9 to 20 at three main venues: Chonburi, Bangkok and Songkhla. This Games will have approximately 9,366 athletes participating, competing in 50 sports.
SEA Games 33 will have a total of 574 sets of medals awarded, 10 sets less than the last SEA Games. At this congress in Thailand, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation will participate with 841 athletes, competing in 47/50 sports.
The target of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games is to win from 90 to 110 gold medals, ranking in the top 3 leading sports delegations.
