Honoring the heritage of Don ca tai tu, promoting the image of Ca Mau

The 1st Southern Amateur Music Festival of Ca Mau Province in 2025 is part of the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival, bringing together nearly 100 artists and amateurs from many provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region. The event not only honors the unique intangible cultural heritage values ​​of the South, but also contributes to promoting the image of Ca Mau land with its rich identity and rich tourism potential.

On the evening of November 13, at the Southern Amateur Music Art Memorial Site and musician Cao Van Lau, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of the 1st Ca Mau Province Southern Amateur Music Art Festival in 2025 with the theme "Resonating Southern Melodies".

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, spoke at the opening ceremony.

This year's festival brings together nearly 100 artists and amateurs from Don ca tai tu troupes from provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region such as An Giang , Tay Ninh, Vinh Long and Can Tho city.

This is an opportunity for artisans, artists, and amateur musicians who are active in Don ca tai tu clubs to exchange, learn, and share experiences, contributing to the preservation and development of the Don ca tai tu movement in each locality; at the same time, strengthening the close relationship and solidarity in the community of people who love this traditional art form.

Mr. Pham Van Thieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Ca Mau province presented flowers to the Jury.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province said: "The festival is not only an opportunity to honor the quintessence and unique values ​​of the intangible cultural heritage of the art of Southern amateur music recognized by UNESCO, but also a bridge for artisans, artists, amateur musicians, and amateur singers in the region to meet, exchange, improve their professional qualifications, and contribute to the development of the traditional folk art movement in the locality."

Artists and amateurs of the Ca Mau Province Amateur Music Troupe performed a competition with the theme "Alluvium of the Cape".

Mr. Phan Thanh Duy - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee and Ms. To Viet Thu - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Bac Lieu Ward Party Committee presented souvenir cups to the teams participating in the Amateur Festival.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the Don ca tai tu teams of An Giang, Can Tho and Ca Mau 1 took turns participating in the competition to perform 20 pieces from the system of Don ca tai tu songs of the Southern region. The content of the performances focused on praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the heroic revolutionary tradition of the nation, love for the homeland and country; praising the achievements in economic - cultural - social development of localities in the Mekong Delta, as well as examples of good people and good deeds in building a healthy cultural life.

The closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 1st Southern Amateur Music Festival of Ca Mau Province in 2025 is scheduled to take place on the evening of November 15, at the National Historical Site of the Cao Van Lau Musician Memorial Site, Bac Lieu Ward.
