General Secretary, President To Lam holds talks with President of Mozambique

At the private meeting, General Secretary, President To Lam congratulated the achievements of the State and People of Mozambique under the wise leadership of the FRELIMO Party in maintaining political stability, national unity and reconciliation, and socio-economic development of Mozambique. The two sides agreed to consolidate the traditional relationship between the two Parties, as a foundation for the development of bilateral relations, through maintaining theoretical research activities, exchanging experiences, and supporting cadre training.

At the talks, on behalf of the Party, State and People of Vietnam, General Secretary and President To Lam warmly welcomed President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi and the high-ranking delegation of Mozambique to their official visit to Vietnam. General Secretary and President expressed his belief that the visit will create new momentum, promote and further deepen the fine traditional solidarity, cooperation and friendship that has been inherited, nurtured and continuously developed by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

Thanking the General Secretary, President To Lam, the State and People of Vietnam for the warm and respectful welcome given to the delegation, the President of Mozambique expressed his pleasure in returning to visit Vietnam in his new position and was deeply impressed by the strong development as well as the prestige and position in the international arena that Vietnam has achieved under the wise leadership of the Communist Party.

On this occasion, President Filipe Nyusi, once again, sent his deep condolences from the State and People of Mozambique on the passing of General Secretary, President Nguyen Phu Trong - a great friend of the People of Mozambique and expressed solidarity and sympathy with the People of Vietnam as they have just experienced the storm. The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of delegations at high and all levels through all Party and State channels. Congress and ministries, departments, branches and localities to strengthen and consolidate political trust, as a basis for creating new momentum for bilateral cooperation; continue to closely coordinate and support each other at international and regional forums, including promoting cooperation of each country in organizations of which the two countries are members such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the African Union (AU) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The two sides appreciated the positive progress in bilateral economic cooperation, with the highlight being the success of the Movitel telecommunications joint venture project (Viettel) in Mozambique. The project has been actively contributing to economic development and bringing many benefits to the people of the two countries. President Filipe Nyusi hopes that in the coming time, businesses of both sides will actively study and research to have more leading projects like the Movitel model.

In the field of trade, the two sides agreed to continue facilitating the penetration of each country's key products into each other's markets such as agricultural products, garments, seafood, coal, etc. and to study the possibility of expanding the joint venture cooperation model to areas such as investing in cashew processing lines and building seafood processing factories in Mozambique.

Mozambique President appreciates Vietnam's achievements in the field Agriculture, hoping that Vietnam will support Mozambique in developing agriculture and coordinate the implementation of tripartite agricultural projects following the model that Vietnam has successfully implemented with African countries.

In order to exploit the potential and strengths of each side, the two sides agreed to expand cooperation in the field. education, training, experts. President Filipe Nyusi appreciates experts medical Vietnam's cooperation not only focuses on medical examination and treatment expertise, but also helps train and improve the capacity of Mozambique's local medical staff.

To implement the commitments achieved, the two sides agreed to further promote the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Joint Commission. Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides shared a common vision on the importance of ensuring security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, emphasizing support for resolving disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
