Chairing a press conference after being elected General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , Comrade To Lam affirmed his dedication, devotion, and devotion to the cause of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, for a prosperous, democratic, equitable, civilized Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and for the Vietnamese people to have a prosperous and happy life.
Also attending the press conference were Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chief of the Central Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc; leaders of Central Committees, ministries and branches.
Speaking at the opening of the press conference, the new General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President To Lam expressed: Comrade General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - an exceptionally outstanding leader, a loyal communist party member with great prestige of our Party, State and People, the full embodiment of the qualities, talents, mettle and intelligence of the generation of Vietnamese leaders in the reform period, whose passing is an extremely great and irreplaceable loss for our Party, our Nation and our People; at this moment, our entire Party, our entire people, our entire army and international friends are still very emotional, not yet relieved of their infinite grief for our exceptionally outstanding leader.
However, in response to the urgent and regular requirements and tasks of the Party and State in building and developing the country and taking care of the people's lives, the Politburo and the Central Executive Committee have decided on the policy of perfecting the leadership positions of the Party and State, first of all the position of General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Party.
This is an urgent requirement of the Party and the country at present to ensure the leadership role, successfully implement the goals of the 13th National Party Congress; prepare for Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress; create a solid foundation to achieve the strategic goals of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; at the same time, determine the future vision, bringing Vietnam on par with the world powers, contributing to peace and development in the world.
Dedicated, devoted, devoted to the Party, to the Country, to the People
According to General Secretary and President To Lam, the mid-term election of the General Secretary was carried out in accordance with the Party Charter, the personnel work orientation of the 13th Party Central Committee, and the Party's regulations on personnel work. This is not a new issue; in the history of our Party, comrade Truong Chinh and comrade Le Kha Phieu were also elected as General Secretaries in the mid-term.
The process of preparing and introducing the General Secretary position was carried out strictly, in accordance with principles, and fully meeting the standards, titles, and procedures prescribed by the Party.
To ensure stability, inherit and develop the experiences and achievements that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, previous leaders and the Central Executive Committees of previous terms have achieved, with the highest responsibility for the common cause of the Party and the country, the Politburo and the Central Executive Committee have discussed democratically, thoroughly, considered many aspects and demonstrated a very high level of unity in introducing and electing the position of General Secretary of the 13th Party Central Executive Committee.
"Being trusted by the Politburo to introduce me, and trusted by the Party Central Committee to elect me and assign me the important responsibility of General Secretary, I am deeply aware that this is a great honor, as well as an honorable responsibility before the Party, State and People; before the tradition of our ancestors and the glorious history of thousands of years of civilization of the nation; before generations of previous leaders; before the requirement to successfully implement the renovation policy and build socialism in our country," General Secretary and President To Lam expressed.
As General Secretary, President To Lam affirmed that he will work with the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat to inherit and promote the glorious traditions and valuable experiences of our Party; to promote to the highest degree the spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and national pride"; to strengthen solidarity and unity within the Party and the great national unity; to unite thoughts and actions, Party ideas and people's hearts; to strive to successfully implement the Party's policies and guidelines, first of all the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of Delegates; to be devoted, devoted, devoted, and strive to sacrifice for the cause of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, for a prosperous, democratic, equitable, civilized Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and for the Vietnamese people to have a prosperous and happy life.

Continue to lead the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army to resolutely and effectively implement the major orientations and strategic breakthroughs that the 13th National Party Congress has set out with 6 key focuses: (1) Maintain independence and self-reliance; strengthen national defense and security potential; resolutely and persistently protect the independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, seas, islands and airspace of the Fatherland. Persist in the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, constantly increase Vietnam's contribution to peace and development in the region and the world. (2) Promote the strength of great national unity in the cause of national construction and defense. Firmly maintain the stance, viewpoint and practice of "people are the root", "people are the subject and center of the innovation process"; ensure that all people enjoy the fruits of innovation and development, live happily in a secure and safe environment, with no one left behind. (3) Focus on building a truly clean and strong Party; resolutely and persistently fight against corruption and negativity; build a contingent of cadres and Party members with sufficient qualities, capacity, prestige, equal to the task, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland and the People. (4) Continue to promote socio-economic development, consolidate national potential; strongly promote investment, production and business; mobilize maximum social resources for the cause of sustainable national development, environmental protection and adaptation to climate change. (5) Arouse the spirit, will, determination, and promote to the highest extent the values of Vietnamese culture and the Vietnamese people of socialism in building a rich, strong, democratic, equitable and civilized Vietnam. (6) Prioritize the effective and quality direction of documents; the preparation work for Party Congresses at all levels towards the successful organization of the 14th National Party Congress.
In addition to the great achievements and results that our country has achieved today, General Secretary and President To Lam also said that we are also facing great difficulties and challenges, the world situation is extremely complicated. The 14th National Party Congress is very close, there are still many tasks to be implemented.
"Today, the Central Executive Committee has entrusted me with a very important responsibility. I hope to continue to receive valuable help from revolutionary elders, leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, Fatherland Front and organizations, agencies, departments, branches, localities, sectors, compatriots, soldiers nationwide, overseas Vietnamese and international friends and partners... to help me successfully complete the assigned tasks. Unity is our strength
At the press conference, answering reporters' questions about his feelings on this important event, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed: Receiving congratulations, expressions of affection and assignments, he was very moved and sincerely thanked the feelings of comrades, compatriots and international friends.
Emphasizing that he was elected by the Central Committee to hold the position of General Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Comrade To Lam said that this is a great responsibility before the Party, the country, and the people, and said that we have gone through 2/3 of the journey of implementing the tasks of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, in the context of the world and regional situation developing very quickly, complicatedly, with many difficulties and challenges. The tasks are numerous and very complicated, requiring great efforts, national solidarity, and unity within the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people to successfully implement the set goals and tasks.
"Perhaps there is nothing like solidarity and unity. Solidarity and unity are our strength. We are very happy that solidarity and unity within the Party, the Politburo, and the Central Executive Committee have been spread, continued to be promoted, and aroused well. Preventing corruption and negativity continues to be drastic and thorough, defeating "internal invaders"
Answering questions about the fight against corruption and negativity, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that this is what the public is waiting for, especially after the fight against corruption and negativity was launched by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and achieved many positive results.
General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that in the coming time, the work of Party building and rectification, and the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity will be strongly implemented with the same motto and solutions as in the past.
"We will continue the fight against corruption and negativity without stopping, without any forbidden areas or exceptions, regardless of who the person is, with the spirit of handling one case to alert the whole region," General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized.
General Secretary and President To Lam clearly stated his viewpoint, focusing on preventing and combating corruption and negativity first at agencies with the function of preventing and combating corruption and negativity; pushing back petty corruption with specific solutions.
"The work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity must continue to be carried out resolutely and thoroughly, in order to defeat this 'internal invader'," said General Secretary and President To Lam.

There are breakthrough solutions, accelerating goal achievement
Sharing about the priority tasks after the 13th Party Central Committee elected new positions, General Secretary and President To Lam said that in the immediate future, he will review and re-evaluate the targets set by the 13th National Congress to find breakthrough solutions, make quick moves, and accelerate the implementation of the goals. "We only have a little over a year left, so the requirement to accelerate the implementation of the targets set by the 13th National Party Congress to reach the finish line early is an important priority."
At the same time, the second priority is to prepare for the 14th National Party Congress. Time is running out, but there is a lot of work to be done, so according to General Secretary and President To Lam, the subcommittees must actively prepare to complete documents to serve the Party Congresses at all levels, leading up to the 14th National Party Congress. At the same time, it is necessary to prepare well in terms of personnel plans.
We must have a good apparatus and a good staff to complete the goals and requirements. That is the work that needs to be focused on, General Secretary and President To Lam stated clearly.
