Speaking with Tuoi Tre , Associate Professor, Dr. LE QUOC LY - former deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics - said that the viewpoint of resolutely and persistently fighting against corruption and negativity, contributing to building a clean and strong Party and State is what General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has always emphasized throughout nearly three terms.
Mr. Le Quoc Ly said: - General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a leader with outstanding contributions, especially in all areas of building, developing and protecting the country. At the same time, he is a shining example of simplicity, closeness and revolutionary morality for the entire Party and people to follow. However, one of the most profound marks that will be recalled and admired by future generations is the continuation and promotion of the fight against corruption and negativity to build and rectify a clean and strong Party.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. LE QUOC LY - former Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics
* In fact, the fight against corruption in recent times is exactly as the General Secretary once said, "when the stove is hot, fresh wood will burn" and below is also getting hotter? - That's right. Previously, people with flaws, even those with serious corruption, could still hide and hide here and there. But when the fight against corruption was fiercely carried out under the direction of the General Secretary in recent times, although it may not be 100%, the majority of those with flaws will not be able to hide and cover up. In addition, in addition to the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and negativity, provincial steering committees have also been established in localities. This is a big step forward under the direction of the General Secretary, the head of the committee. The establishment of the provincial steering committee is an extension of the Central Steering Committee and further strengthens the fight against corruption in localities. Everyone from central to local levels must move and no one can sleep peacefully if they do wrong or commit corruption.
* As you said, along with the rule of law, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also uses virtue to prevent corruption and negativity? - General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is an exemplary model of revolutionary ethics, "diligence, thrift, integrity, uprightness, impartiality" for every cadre and party member today to learn from and follow. In many speeches, the General Secretary always mentioned "Honor is the most sacred and noble thing" of every person, especially true communist cadres and party members. Or in the work Resolutely and persistently fighting against corruption and negativity, contributing to building our Party and State increasingly clean and strong, the General Secretary also emphasized that every cadre and party member of the Party must be exemplary in practicing revolutionary ethics, practicing "diligence, thrift, integrity, uprightness, impartiality". This is to avoid the situation of "While your feet are still dirty / You hold a torch to rub other people's feet", "If the superiors are not righteous, the subordinates will be in chaos", "The superiors are not in a righteous position / Therefore, we below are rude"...
In addition, many regulations related to setting examples and regulating revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members in the new situation have been issued. Most recently, Regulation 144 (2024) of the Politburo regulates revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members in the new period. This shows that the General Secretary always has high demands and expectations to build a team of cadres and party members who are truly ethical, responsible, have an attitude of serving the people and always respect honor. * With the great values left by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, how should the Party and State continue to strongly and effectively implement the fight against corruption, sir? - With the fight against corruption, it is necessary to be relentless because this is not a simple and easy job, but as the ancients often said, fighting against the enemy within us is the most difficult. The fight against corruption has been done well, however, the prevention issue must be further promoted in the future because this is the most important thing in the fight against corruption and negativity. In particular, prevention needs to be demonstrated by careful screening, and those who show signs of corruption must be eliminated from the beginning. Especially at the 14th Congress, we must select and bring in the most elite people, representing the interests of the nation, the people, and the people.
* Mr. VU TRONG KIM (former Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front):
The trend is irreversible.
The General Secretary's extremely important legacy is to have turned the fight against corruption and negativity into an irreversible movement and trend. This is an inevitable requirement of history and is supported by the people. No one can go against or stop that trend. At the same time, the spirit and consistent viewpoint of the General Secretary is that there are no forbidden zones, no exceptions, no matter who, holding any position in the Party and State has been and will certainly continue to be implemented resolutely and persistently. One point that also needs to be made clear is that the General Secretary has repeatedly emphasized the need to maintain an environment to promote socio-economic development, not to let the fight against corruption and negativity affect other matters, including socio-economic, national defense, security, and people's lives. In line with that spirit, through the matters handled in recent times, it has shown that people's trust in the Party and State has been increasingly consolidated. In the coming time, to best continue this career of the General Secretary, it is necessary to build a synchronous legal system to close the gaps and loopholes. It is necessary to perfect the institution so that corruption is "impossible, not daring, not wanting, not needing". In addition, it is necessary to continue to improve the education of revolutionary ethics for cadres and party members so that, along with self-reflection and self-correction, they must voluntarily withdraw from their positions when they are no longer worthy. This must become a "permanent" thing in every cadre and party member.
