General Secretary To Lam, two key leaders, and seven Politburo members were re-elected to the 14th Central Committee.

On the afternoon of January 22, the 14th National Congress of the Party held a vote to elect the 14th Central Committee of the Party.

The congress elected 200 members, including 180 full members and 20 alternate members.

According to the published list, out of the 16 members of the Politburo of the 13th term, 10 were re-elected to the new Central Committee.

This includes three key leaders of the Party and State: General Secretary To Lam, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man , and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Tran Cam Tu.

General Secretary To Lam was born in 1957 in Hung Yen province. He holds a professorship and a doctorate in Law.

He was a member of the Central Committee for the 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; and a member of the Politburo for the 12th and 13th terms. He held many positions such as Minister of Public Security; President; and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man was born in 1962 in Can Tho City. He holds a PhD in Economics.

He was a member of the Central Committee of the Party in the 10th (alternate), 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; Secretary of the Central Committee in the 12th term; and a member of the Politburo in the 13th term.

Mr. Tran Thanh Man previously served as Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and Chairman of the National Assembly.

Tran Cam Tu, a Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, was born in 1961 in Ha Tinh province. He is a member of the Party Central Committee for the 10th (alternate), 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; Secretary of the Party Central Committee for the 12th and 13th terms; and a member of the Politburo for the 13th term.

Mr. Tran Cam Tu was formerly the Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee before becoming a Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee.

7 members of the 13th Politburo were re-elected to the 14th Central Committee.

Within the Party's organizational structure, one Politburo member from the 13th term re-elected to the new Central Committee is Le Minh Hung, Head of the Central Organization Department.

Mr. Le Minh Hung was born in 1970 in Ha Tinh province. He is a member of the Central Committee of the Party for the 12th and 13th terms; Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party for the 13th term, a National Assembly delegate for the 15th term, and was elected to the Politburo for the 13th term in May 2024.

Mr. Le Minh Hung previously worked for a long time at the State Bank of Vietnam and held the position of Governor of the State Bank for nearly one term. After that, he served as Chief of the Central Party Office and Head of the Central Organization Department.

Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, was also re-elected to the 14th Central Executive Committee.

Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai was born in 1965 in Ninh Binh province; she holds a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree in Law. She was a member of the Central Committee of the Party in the 10th (alternate), 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party in the 13th term, and a member of the Politburo in the 13th term (as of May 2024).

She previously held positions such as Head of the Central Committee's Mass Mobilization Department and Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee.

Mr. Do Van Chien, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, was also re-elected to the 14th Central Committee.

Mr. Do Van Chien was born in 1962 in Tuyen Quang province. He was a member of the Central Committee of the 10th (alternate), 11th, 12th, and 13th terms and was elected to the Politburo in May 2024.

He previously held positions such as Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities; and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Three generals from the armed forces were re-elected to the 14th Central Committee: General Phan Văn Giang, Minister of National Defense; General Lương Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security; and General Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa, Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army.

General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, was born in 1960 in Ninh Binh province. He served two terms in the Central Committee, the 12th and 13th, and was a member of the Politburo in the 13th term. General Phan Van Giang has held the position of Minister of National Defense since 2021.

General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, was born in 1965 in Hung Yen province. He is a member of the 13th Central Committee and was elected to the Politburo in August 2024.

General Nguyen Trong Nghia , Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, was born in 1962 in Tien Giang (now Dong Thap province).

He was a member of the Central Committee of the Party in the 12th and 13th terms; Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party in the 13th term; and a member of the Politburo in the 13th term (as of May 2024).

Among those re-elected to the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam is Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee .

He is a member of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and was elected to the Politburo of the 13th Party Congress in January 2025. He previously served as Deputy Minister of Public Security, Chief of the Central Party Office, and Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission.

Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang was also re-elected to the 14th Central Committee.

Mr. Tran Luu Quang was born in 1967 in Tay Ninh province. He holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the 11th (alternate), 12th, and 13th terms; and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the 13th term.

He has held many positions, including Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee; Deputy Prime Minister; Head of the Central Economic Committee; Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee; and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

According to the program for tomorrow (January 23), in the morning, delegates to the Congress will have a break, and the 14th Central Committee of the Party will hold its first meeting; in the afternoon, the Congress will hold its closing session.

As is customary, after the Congress elects the new Central Committee, the Central Committee will hold its first meeting to elect the Politburo, the General Secretary, the Secretariat, the Central Inspection Committee, and the Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee.
