General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, attended the ceremony and shared joy with the brotherly country of Laos.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Lao Party and State leaders, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith delivered an important speech. The General Secretary and President of Laos stated that 50 years ago, at this location, a large number of Lao revolutionaries and patriotic people gathered to seize power in the capital Vientiane , leading to the national congress, declaring the complete abolition of the colonial and feudal regimes, and establishing Laos on December 2, 1975.

"This great historical event has profoundly changed the destiny of our country and society and opened a new era, building our beloved country, moving rapidly and firmly along the path of independence, self-reliance, unity and prosperity, ensuring that the Lao people of all ethnic groups have a prosperous, free and happy life," said General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith warmly welcomed and sincerely thanked friendly countries near and far, development partners, international organizations as well as social organizations that have actively supported and assisted Laos over the past half decade in the cause of national protection and development.

General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that the past 50 years have been a process of establishment, continuous improvement and development of Laos , the pinnacle of a fierce, arduous, and long-term struggle with a noble, patriotic spirit, indomitable through vibrant revolutionary movements and the sacrifices of our ancestors, of the heroic Lao people as well as the valuable support of friendly countries, especially the solidarity and fighting alliance of the three brotherly countries of Indochina, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, to be able to achieve the great and glorious victory as President Kaysone Phomvihane - beloved leader, beloved son of the Lao people - concluded: "Long-term struggle, great victory".

Promote national consciousness, independence, autonomy, self-reliance and self-improvement

In the face of the rapidly evolving, complex, profound, and comprehensive regional and global situation with many challenges, Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith said that Laos will continue to adhere to its foreign policy of peace, independence, friendship, and cooperation for development, promoting relations and cooperation with friendly countries and development partners, including continuing to strengthen solidarity and close relations with strategic friends; building an independent, self-reliant economy, firmly following the path of balanced and harmonious development between the economy, culture, society, and the environment in a green and sustainable direction.

Continue to exploit and promote strengths and potentials, combine national strength with the strength of the times in protecting and developing the country on the basis of promoting national consciousness, independence, autonomy, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and steady progress into the world; promote people's mastery, so that people can enjoy the fruits of development fairly and widely, and constantly build a prosperous and wealthy life.

Laos will strive to achieve a major goal: by 2055, the 100th anniversary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Laos will have developed with an upper-middle income, a strong political system, a modern economic foundation, comprehensively developed productive forces, appropriate and progressive production relations, and the lives of the Lao ethnic people will be basically guaranteed, moving towards a prosperous life.

Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that he will continue to protect the revolutionary achievements, results and victories over the past 50 years with his life and the steadfast, consistent ideals of future generations forever.

Immediately after the speech of General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, the parade of armed forces; ministries, departments, branches; political and social organizations and unions took place in a grand and solemn manner, vividly demonstrating the achievements in all areas of life, society, economy and national defense that the Lao Party and people have achieved over the past 50 years.

The ceremony attracted a large number of Lao people to watch; expressing the strong belief and confidence of the people in the bright future of the country, which was founded and built by previous generations, is being developed by today's generation and continuously improved by the next generation, building a peaceful, independent, democratic, unified and prosperous Laos.
