This morning, November 12, in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam attended and spoke at the 80th Anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector (1945 - 2025), received the First Class Labor Medal and the First Patriotic Emulation Congress.

Also attending were: former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former President Truong Tan Sang; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former Chairmen of the National Assembly: Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries, Party Central Committee members and leaders of several central ministries, branches and localities.

Over the past eight decades, the agricultural and environmental sectors have affirmed their strategic role in ensuring food security, livelihoods of tens of millions of farmers, protecting natural resources, biodiversity and ecological balance; at the same time contributing to maintaining political stability, social security and protecting the living environment of the people. The agricultural sector has become the mainstay of the national economy , turning Vietnam from a country with food shortages into one of the world's leading agricultural exporters.

The year 2025 marks a new historical milestone when the 15th National Assembly decided to merge the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, forming the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment from March 1, 2025. This is a step demonstrating the strategic vision of the Party and State to manage, exploit and use national resources more effectively, meeting the requirements of rapid and sustainable development in the new era. After the merger, the Ministry quickly completed the organization, stabilized the apparatus, ensuring smooth, effective and efficient operations. Thanks to that, the growth rate of added value of the whole industry in the period of 2020-2025 reached 3.12%/year, exceeding the set target. The export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in 2024 will reach a record 62.5 billion USD, up nearly 19% compared to 2023 - the highest increase in two decades, with 11 items reaching over 1 billion USD, of which 7 items are over 3 billion USD...
