The agricultural sector has become the mainstay of the national economy , turning Vietnam from a country with food shortages into one of the world's leading agricultural exporters.

The year 2025 marks a new historical milestone when the 15th National Assembly decided to merge the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, forming the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment from March 1, 2025. This is a step demonstrating the strategic vision of the Party and State to manage, exploit and use national resources more effectively, meeting the requirements of rapid and sustainable development in the new era. After the merger, the Ministry quickly completed the organization, stabilized the apparatus, ensuring smooth, effective and efficient operations. Thanks to that, the growth rate of added value of the whole industry in the period of 2020-2025 reached 3.12%/year, exceeding the set target. The export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in 2024 will reach a record 62.5 billion USD, up nearly 19% compared to 2023 - the highest increase in two decades, with 11 items reaching over 1 billion USD, of which 7 items are over 3 billion USD...
