General Secretary To Lam received the National Gold Medal from the State of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

(CPV) - Within the framework of the State visit to the Lao PDR, attending the 50th National Day Celebration of the Lao PDR and co-chairing the High-level Meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, at noon on December 1, on behalf of the Lao Party and State, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith presented General Secretary To Lam with the National Gold Medal.

Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith congratulated General Secretary To Lam.

This is the most noble medal of the Lao PDR State awarded to General Secretary To Lam for his great contributions to fostering the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony were: General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife; and high-ranking delegations from Vietnam and Laos.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam expressed his honor and emotion to receive the National Gold Medal and affirmed that this is a great source of pride for him personally, and is also a vivid testament to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, a relationship that has become an exemplary symbol, lasting over time, of comradeship and brotherhood.

General Secretary To Lam respectfully thanked the Party, State and people of Laos; expressed gratitude and paid tribute to the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and beloved President Souphanouvong - those who directly nurtured, built and laid a solid foundation for the special friendship between the two nations with sincere hearts and clear minds, with the aspiration for prosperous development, bringing prosperity and happiness to the people, so that today the two countries are always proud of the loyal and eternal solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

General Secretary To Lam also expressed his deep gratitude to the Lao Party, State and People for always standing side by side with the Vietnamese Party, State and People throughout the past struggle for national independence, as well as the present cause of protecting, building and developing the country.

General Secretary To Lam stated: "That spirit of solidarity has become a great strength leading to our glorious victory and peace and independence today and will continue to guide the two countries and peoples of Vietnam and Laos to always accompany each other, sharing the same aspirations and destiny."

General Secretary To Lam also affirmed that he will continue to work with the collective leadership of the Vietnamese Party and State to make every effort, and with the leadership of the Lao Party and State to foster the "loyal and steadfast" Vietnam-Laos relationship to develop more and more, worthy of the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations, meeting the aspirations of the people of the two countries./.
