She stopped at a café to enjoy a taste of Vietnamese egg coffee. Next, she visited the Rehabilitation Center at Bach Mai Hospital. Since the mid-1990s, USAID has worked with Bach Mai Hospital to support people affected by the war.
At the US Embassy, she met with all the staff there and expressed her thanks to the embassy staff.
Yesterday afternoon, Ms. Power met with Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, where she reaffirmed USAID’s strong and expanding partnership with Vietnam on shared priorities, including addressing war legacies, strengthening public health systems, and promoting inclusive economic growth, among others.
At the end of her final day, Power met with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to discuss USAID’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Vietnam. She highlighted areas of growing cooperation.
These include assisting Vietnam in searching for and identifying the remains of those missing in action to help families heal; strengthening USAID’s partnership with Vietnam’s three largest universities to modernize higher education institutions; supporting climate resilience in the Mekong Delta region; supporting clean energy; and strengthening health systems.
