Summary of activities of the Library Association of North Central provinces

QTO - On the morning of November 14, in Dong Hoi ward, Quang Tri province, the Library Association of the North Central provinces held a conference to summarize the year 2025 and a discussion with the theme "Innovation of library activities in the current period - Implementation solutions". Attending were representatives of the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Library, National Library of Vietnam, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In the context of the increasingly developing technological revolution, the operation and activities of the two-level local government are both opportunities and great challenges. The libraries of the provinces of the North Central Union have proactively implemented programs, plans, and innovated the scale and organization of activities. In 2025, the libraries of the North Central provinces organized 53 exhibitions of books and documents commemorating political events and major holidays of the homeland and the country; added about 37,592 books, 452 newspapers and magazines; innovated the quality and efficiency in organizing services for readers with the number of new cards being exchanged and issued being more than 19,500, with a total of over 1 million readers. In addition, the libraries of the provinces in the Union have focused on upgrading information technology infrastructure in digitizing documents, using official mail and digital signatures in library transactions.

In 2026, libraries in the Union will focus on innovating communication work, diversifying propaganda methods; promoting the application of information technology in all library activities; and strengthening the circulation of books and newspapers to remote, isolated and particularly difficult areas to serve the people.

Within the framework of the conference program, the Library Association of the North Central provinces organized a discussion program with the theme "Innovation of library activities in the current period - Implementation solutions". Delegates discussed and shared about the application of information technology, digital transformation to collect, digitize, preserve, and promote the value of Han-Nom heritage; creative reader service models, spreading reading culture to the community; innovation in activities through coordination between the Library and the school system in forming reading habits for the young generation; opportunities and challenges when implementing digital transformation in library activities according to the 2-level local government model.

Speaking at the conference, representatives of the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Library, Ministry of Culture , Sports and Tourism acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Library Association of the North Central provinces; at the same time, requested libraries to pay attention to building their own brands in the issue of preserving and developing cultural heritage; strengthen innovation in library activities, focus on propaganda and communication to develop reading culture; replicate, develop and replicate new library models suitable to the conditions of each locality.

On this occasion, the North Central Province Library Association agreed to hand over the position of Chairman and the unit hosting activities in 2026 to Thanh Hoa Provincial Library.
