Speaking at the meeting, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung sent his best wishes to Consul General Phanthavong Bouthasavong and the staff of the Lao Consulate General in Guangzhou on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao PDR.
The Consul General affirmed that the past 50 years have been a very glorious historical journey for the Lao people. Under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao people have united, fought bravely and achieved very glorious victories, leading to the birth of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on December 2, 1975 - a great event, opening an era of independence and freedom for the Lao people. At the same time, he expressed his belief that the Lao people will continue to reap more success on the path of building an independent, peaceful country, a civilized and prosperous society.
For his part, the Lao Consul General in Guangzhou respectfully expressed his gratitude for the deep affection that the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam have for the Party, State and people of Laos and the special Laos-Vietnam relationship, demonstrating the loyalty and steadfastness between the two peoples throughout the struggle for independence as well as 50 years of building Laos.
On this occasion, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung and Consul General Phanthavong Bouthasavong pledged to closely coordinate in joint activities, especially within the ASEAN framework when the Vietnamese Consulate General assumes the role of Chair of the ASEAN Consular Delegation in Guangzhou in the first half of 2026.
