On the afternoon of January 11, President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo arrived in Hanoi , starting a State visit to Vietnam from January 11-13 at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong.

Welcoming the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc; Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong; and a number of officials from units of the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the Indonesian side, there was Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi and a number of officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam.
The high-ranking Indonesian delegation included: Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi; State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir; Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita; Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono; Chief of Staff to the Presidential Office Moeldoko; Member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Ambassador Gandi Sulistiyanto Soeherman; Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi.
President Joko Widodo was born on June 21, 1961 in Surakarta (formerly known as Solo); religion: Islam; political party: Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). His professional qualifications are Bachelor of Forestry, Gadjah Mada University.
Mr. Joko Widodo's working process: In 1990, he founded the Solo Small Industry Development Cooperative; then he became Head of the Mining and Energy Department, Surakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (1992-1996); Chairman of the Surakarta Handicraft Industry Association (2002-2007). During the period 2005-2012, he was Mayor of Surakarta City. After that, he was Governor of the capital Jakarta (2012-2014).
In July 2014, Mr. Joko Widodo was elected President of Indonesia; in October 2014, he officially took office as President for the 2014-2019 term.
In May 2019, he was re-elected President of Indonesia for a second term and officially took office as President for the 2019-2024 term in October 2019.
This is the second time Indonesian President Joko Widodo has made a State visit to Vietnam, following his visit in September 2018. The visit contributes to further strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Indonesia that has been nurtured for nearly 70 years (from 1955 to present).
The visit is also an opportunity for the two sides to continue discussing measures to promote cooperation and deepen the Vietnam - Indonesia Strategic Partnership, while also providing an opportunity for the two countries to exploit opportunities and potential for cooperation in many fields.
