Mr. Peskov also said that Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and held consultations with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev.
Wang Yi is on a four-day visit to Russia, the latest in a series of high-level contacts between Moscow and Beijing. The Kremlin has sought to strengthen ties with China after Russia launched a military campaign in Ukraine.
Last February, Russia and China agreed on an “unlimited” strategic partnership. The two sides have since repeatedly reaffirmed the strength of their relationship, with bilateral trade increasing.
Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev revealed on September 19 that Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing next month.
Mr Putin last visited China in February 2022, when he attended the Winter Olympics in Beijing and held talks with Mr Xi. During the visit, the two sides declared an “unlimited” partnership.
Xi Jinping also visited Moscow for a state visit in March this year. The two leaders hailed a “new era” in bilateral relations and discussed Beijing’s proposals to help end the conflict in Ukraine.
