Ukraine hopes a peace summit in June in Switzerland will put pressure on Russia to end the war in the country.
“I appeal to the world leaders who are still standing aside from the global efforts of the Peace Summit — to President Joe Biden, the leader of the United States, and President Xi Jinping, the leader of China. Please show your leadership in promoting peace — a real peace, not just a pause in attacks,” Zelenskyy said.

Russia said the conference would be meaningless without its participation. It had previously said it would not participate in any event that would serve Ukraine's "peace formula."
Mr Zelenskyy’s comments came two days after Russian sources said Mr Putin was ready to halt the war in Ukraine with a ceasefire and negotiate recognition of the current front lines. Mr Zelenskyy said a ceasefire would only help Russia rearm and regroup.
Russia has recently made advances on Ukraine's eastern fronts and is trying to push deeper into the northeastern Kharkiv region after launching a ground offensive earlier this month.
In an interview last week, Mr Zelenskyy said it was important to have as many countries as possible around the peace table. Meanwhile, President Putin suggested that the talks could turn Ukraine’s demand for Russia to withdraw its troops into an ultimatum for his country.
