ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, 6th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Digital Transformation (ADGMIN 6)
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the 6th ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting (ADGMIN 6) in Hanoi, ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State, and Government's identification of science and technology , innovation, and digital transformation as strategic breakthroughs demonstrates long-term vision, strategic thinking, and acumen in development policy planning. These are also the common priorities that ASEAN is pursuing in the context of increasing globalization and fierce digital competition.
Mr. Kao Kim Hourn also affirmed that Vietnam's orientations are entirely consistent with the 'ASEAN Vision 2045: Our Shared Future' - a long-term strategy aimed at building a peaceful , prosperous, resilient, sustainable, and inclusive ASEAN Community.
Vietnam has actively participated in the development of this vision, placing a strong emphasis on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Vietnam's success in these strategic areas not only benefits the nation itself but also significantly contributes to ASEAN's competitiveness, standing, and role in the international arena.
Assessing Vietnam's role as the host country of the 6th ADGMIN, the ASEAN Secretary-General emphasized that this year's theme, "ASEAN Adapting: From Infrastructure Connectivity to Intelligence Connectivity," carries clear strategic significance. Artificial intelligence is the story of "intelligent connectivity," closely linked to the vision of building smart governments, smart economies, and smart societies throughout the region.
The fact that the Conference was held in Hanoi – the first ASEAN Ministerial Conference in 2026 – contributed to shaping the cooperation priorities for the entire year, affirming that digitalization is one of ASEAN's top priorities. Vietnam was also highly appreciated for its pioneering role in mobilizing the participation of dialogue partners, international organizations, and the private sector, thereby creating momentum to promote the realization of ASEAN's digital initiatives.
The ASEAN Secretary-General expressed confidence that Vietnam will continue to effectively play its coordinating and leading role, transforming commitments, policies, and initiatives into concrete actions, contributing to making ASEAN digital cooperation deeper, more substantive, and more effective in the future.
