Ha Long City: Election venues are ready

In Ha Long City, these days, the preparation of facilities, festive decorations, and propaganda for the election day of village and ward chiefs are being actively completed by communes and wards. Voters and people of the city are excitedly looking forward to the big festival.

In early December 2024, cultural houses in villages and neighborhoods in the city completed decorating with colorful flags and banners to prepare for the election of village and neighborhood chiefs. The entire list of candidates was publicly posted by communes and wards for people to review and choose worthy people to be elected as village and neighborhood chiefs for the 2025-2027 term. Many localities have completed preparations earlier than the regulations of the province and city. Typically: Cao Xanh Ward People's Committee, as of December 4, at 10 polling stations in 10 neighborhoods, has ensured the following material conditions: Completing festive decorations, hanging banners and slogans about election day; printing voter cards representing households, ballots, signs; decorating polling stations and areas outside polling stations; stamping ballots; badges of the Election Steering Committee, Election Team, and support team. At the same time, mobilize people to actively clean the environment, improve the grounds of cultural houses and main roads.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong, Vice Chairwoman of Cao Xanh Ward People's Committee, said: Thanks to proactive early implementation, all tasks of preparing for the election of ward chiefs for the 2025-2027 term of the ward were completed about 10 days ahead of schedule. The ward continues to promote information and propaganda work so that people understand and agree, striving to have the highest and fastest voter turnout rate.

Hong Hai ward leaders review preparations for election day.

In Hong Hai ward, there are 18 neighborhoods (the most in the city), of which 8 neighborhoods are sharing the same cultural house. In addition to careful preparation for personnel and consultation, ensuring facilities is a top priority for the Ward People's Committee. After reviewing the facilities for the 8 neighborhoods sharing the same cultural house, the ward has arranged the Ward People's Committee headquarters for neighborhood 6C and worked with the schools: Quang Trung Primary School, Hong Hai Secondary School to come up with a plan to use the school halls for election day in the remaining 3 neighborhoods.

The People's Committee of Ha Trung Ward and Ward 5 urged the contractor to speed up construction progress, ensuring the cultural house is put into use before December 10, 2024.

For communes and wards with degraded and cramped cultural houses, Ha Long City has also spent hundreds of billions of VND to invest in building nearly 40 new cultural houses. Mr. Luong Do Toan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Trung Ward, said: The ward has built 2 new cultural houses with a total budget of over 10 billion VND. The cultural houses are 2-storey, with a floor area of over 200m2. The construction process encountered many difficulties, but with the determination to complete the construction in time for the election of the ward chief as well as to meet the cultural needs of the people, the ward requested contractors to speed up the construction progress, increase human resources, work overtime, and work day and night to achieve the required progress. It is expected that both cultural houses will be completed and put into use before December 10. In parallel with speeding up the completion of the final items (yard, fence, etc.), the ward organized festive decorations in the voting area.

In addition to ensuring facilities and festive decorations to create consensus and high unity among the people about the election, Ha Long City also promoted propaganda for the election of village and ward chiefs for the 2025-2027 term in the area. The People's Committees of communes and wards organized 136 conferences to propagate and disseminate contents related to the election of village and ward chiefs, with over 4,000 participants, through many forms, such as: at Party cell meetings; through conferences in wards and neighbourhoods; integrated into the National Great Unity Day; through electronic media; loudspeaker systems, fanpages, zalo, facebook of communes and wards. In particular, the focus is on propagating contents about the meaning and importance of the election; the role, position, standards, tasks, and powers of village, hamlet, and ward chiefs; merging villages and wards of the city.

With proactive, synchronous and comprehensive implementation, especially good propaganda work and ensuring material conditions, the election day of village and ward chiefs for the 2025-2027 term in Ha Long City will take place safely, in accordance with the law and achieve high results, truly a festival of the people.
