
Attending the event were Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Van Bay, Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City Wiraka Moodhitaporn, consuls general, members of the consular delegation and many guests from Vietnam and Thailand.
Commitment to promote bilateral cooperation

In her opening speech, Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn said this year's celebration has special significance as Thailand is remembering Queen Sirikit - the Queen Mother, who has made many contributions to the arts, traditional culture and life of the Thai people.
She expressed her gratitude for the sincere condolences and sharing from Vietnam.
The Thai Consul General also sent condolences to the Vietnamese people for the recent flood damage in the central coastal region, affirming that Thailand always stands side by side with Vietnam in difficult times.
2025 is considered an important milestone in bilateral relations when the two sides officially upgrade their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, based on nearly 50 years of cooperation and mutual trust.
In addition to economic cooperation, Thailand attaches special importance to people-to-people exchange and education. Over the past 30 years, the Thai Government has cooperated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, and the University of Foreign Languages, Danang University, to develop Thai studies and Thai language, award scholarships, and promote student and faculty exchanges.

On this occasion, the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City also organized many sideline activities such as exhibition of traditional costumes and handicrafts, promotion of Thai cuisine , introduction of sea turtle conservation project and booths of Thai enterprises investing in Vietnam.
Looking forward to 2026 - the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Thailand diplomatic relations, the two sides said they will continue to carry out a series of cooperation activities in various fields, from exchanging high-level delegations, promoting trade to enhancing cultural, artistic and educational exchanges.
Consul General Wiraka Moodhitaporn affirmed his commitment to continue to strongly promote bilateral cooperation, contributing to the common development and prosperity of the two countries in the new period.
Thailand is an important partner of Ho Chi Minh City in many fields.

On behalf of the government and people of Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Van Bay sent his best wishes to the Thai Consulate General, the business community and Thai citizens living and working in the city on the occasion of National Day.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City also sent its deepest condolences to the people of the southern provinces of Thailand who have just suffered from severe floods, causing great loss of life and property.
Mr. Tran Van Bay highly appreciated the development achievements that the Kingdom of Thailand has achieved over the past decades, becoming a leading center of production, trade and services in Southeast Asia with a sustainable, creative and environmentally friendly development orientation.
The Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1976, the Vietnam - Thailand relationship has continuously developed, achieving many important steps forward, especially when the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2025.
Economically, Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner in ASEAN and the 9th largest FDI investor in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of about 15 billion USD.
The two countries are aiming to increase bilateral trade turnover to 25 billion USD, through implementing the "three connections" strategy: connecting supply chains, connecting local businesses and connecting sustainable development strategies.

In Ho Chi Minh City alone, Thailand is one of the important partners in many fields. In the first 9 months of 2025, trade turnover between Ho Chi Minh City and Thailand reached 2.6 billion USD, an increase of more than 20% over the same period. In terms of investment, Thailand ranked 5th among investors in the city with a total capital of 227.9 million USD in 11 months.
Many cultural and people-to-people exchange activities such as the Thai Festival and blood donation have contributed to enhancing understanding and connection between the people of the two countries.
Mr. Bay believes that with the spirit of "cooperation is the key to open the door to success, companionship is the way to common prosperity", as two active, proactive and responsible members of the ASEAN community, Vietnam and Thailand will continue to overcome all challenges, take advantage of all opportunities to cooperate more effectively and substantially, towards greater achievements.
Ho Chi Minh City pledges to always be an active bridge, contributing to promoting the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
