Ho Chi Minh City inaugurates Ly Thai To Park No. 1: Tears dissolve into the motherland, but human kindness endures forever.

Revival and Continuation

Attending the inauguration ceremony of Ly Thai To Park No. 1 were Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang, Standing Deputy Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong, Deputy Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Duoc, Deputy Party Secretary Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Party Secretary Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Party Secretary Van Thi Bach Tuyet, along with representatives from various departments and agencies, the investor ( Sun Group), and residents of Ho Chi Minh City.

The construction of Ly Thai To Park No. 1 required round-the-clock, uninterrupted work. Throughout the construction process, the site maintained a 3-shift, 4-team model, with nearly 20 engineers and Sun Group personnel on-site. At its peak, up to 500 workers were mobilized to work continuously.

According to the investor, the entire plot of land is planned to be a triangular park, located within the city's important green landscape axis. Situated in the context of a bustling metropolis, Ly Thai To Park No. 1 resembles a small forest, a quiet green space offering a completely different atmosphere.

This place offers a sense of tranquility, coolness, and freshness, with the gentle whispers of the forest.

To "soften" the sharp corners of the triangular plot of land, the designers rounded the edges and placed a circular plaza in the center of the park. This plaza serves as a point of harmonization, seamlessly blending the past, present, and future.

Within the overall green space, the highlight is the teardrop-shaped plaza. The design is inspired by the image of a falling water droplet, which, upon hitting the ground, forms a spatial cavity resembling a scar etched into the earth. This serves as a reminder of the painful past that the people of Ho Chi Minh City overcame during the peak months of the pandemic.

When a drop of water hits Mother Earth and shatters, the resulting ripples spread outwards, symbolizing transformation. The grief of loss is suppressed by the people, and together they overcome it, moving towards a better future.

At the center of the circle is the Teardrop Monument. This represents a tear of gratitude, love, and compassion.

And hidden deep within that teardrop is a heart, representing the compassion, sharing, and protection that people have given each other during the most painful times. Thanks to that heart, the teardrop does not dissolve in despair, but finds a foundation to spread into new waves, symbolizing rebirth and continuity.

Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang was moved when reviewing images of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City.

The park has a special mission.

In his remarks, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, expressed that in the warm atmosphere of the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, everyone was present to fulfill the special mission of inaugurating Ly Thai To Park No. 1.

"Standing in this tranquil space, let us pause together to remember our compatriots and comrades who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was an unimaginable tragedy, with many dying without loved ones by their side..."

"The city also respectfully bows its head in gratitude to the sacrifices of doctors, nurses, soldiers, and volunteers who put aside their personal happiness to fight the epidemic and protect the people," Mr. Duoc said, his voice choked with emotion.

Mr. Được also noted that this sacrifice has forged a monument built on gratitude, not just a concrete structure. Ho Chi Minh City experienced days when it seemed on the verge of collapse as the number of cases increased, ambulances lined up, and neighborhoods fell silent.

The city experienced negative growth, but its will remained strong. Under the guidance of the Party and the State, the people and the city stood firm, weathering the storm together with the strength of unity, "fighting the epidemic like fighting an enemy." We will not forget the rice ATMs, the zero-cost supermarkets, and many other acts of sharing…

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Nguyen Van Duoc, was visibly moved at the ceremony.

Mr. Được assessed that Ly Thai To Park No. 1 is particularly meaningful and deeply humane, a place where people come to remember and cherish. The park carries three messages: rebirth, camaraderie, and looking towards the future.

"I sincerely thank the agencies, units, and SunGroup Corporation, along with the construction and consulting team, for their efforts over 90 days and nights to create this meaningful project for the city. In addition, the support of the people is crucial, because without trust, no project can be completed," Mr. Duoc expressed.

On the occasion of the New Year, Mr. Duoc, on behalf of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, extended wishes for peace and prosperity to everyone. He also hoped that Ho Chi Minh City would develop, become civilized, modern, compassionate, and confidently pioneer in the new era.

Also at the ceremony, Ms. Chau Minh Hien - Head of the Emulation and Commendation Board of Ho Chi Minh City (under the Department of Internal Affairs) announced the decision and presided over the commendation ceremony for outstanding organizations and individuals who contributed to the construction of Ly Thai To Park No. 1.

The plot of land at 1 Ly Thai To Street, with three street frontages on Ly Thai To, Hung Vuong, and Tran Binh Trong streets, was previously abandoned and severely dilapidated. Seven old villas inside were heavily damaged, with stained and cracked facades, fences, and main gates. They have now been renovated and revitalized.

Ly Thai To Park No. 1 is a key green space project.

Ly Thai To Park No. 1 is one of nine key projects that bring green spaces and community areas to the forefront of Ho Chi Minh City's new megacity development strategy.

To implement the project, Ho Chi Minh City mobilized social resources; in particular, Sun Group Corporation sponsored the entire cost of 263 billion VND and directly undertook the construction. Many domestic and international consulting firms were invited to participate, aiming to ensure the aesthetic quality, technical standards, and profound humanistic value of the project.
