On February 8th, G42 Group (UAE) and a consortium of domestic investors signed a framework agreement to develop a hyperscale data center infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City with a total investment value of up to 2 billion USD.
This was the highlight of the Investment Promotion Conference on Digital Technology Infrastructure and Big Data Centers serving the International Finance Centre in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC – HCMC), held on the evening of February 8th.
A series of other agreements and projects were also signed. Typical examples includethe FPT - VinaCapital - Viet Thai alliance's creative complex project and the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Asset Investment Fund with a target size of $1 billion.
The Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Management Board (SHTP) also signed an agreement with VinaCapital to develop projects aimed at promoting the development of data infrastructure projects and green energy solutions, serving the sustainable operation needs of next-generation data centers.
These agreements demonstrate the strong commitment of strategic investors to partner with Ho Chi Minh City in developing modern digital technology infrastructure that meets international standards.
This lays the foundation for attracting financial institutions, fintech companies, and global technology corporations.
Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, believes that the city is entering a new phase of development, where digital infrastructure becomes the "backbone" for all growth activities.
Data center infrastructure and digital technology are not just supporting factors, but core components of a smart city, including the International Financial Centre ecosystem. Investing in large-scale projects will contribute to ensuring data security, enhancing information processing capacity, promoting innovation, and improving the quality of urban governance.
City leaders also pledged to refine specific policy mechanisms and work alongside investors to transform the mega-scale data center and artificial intelligence into a breakthrough driving force for smart cities.
