
The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding and the Scientific Workshop were jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Training and Competition Center and the Vietnam Sleep Medicine Association.
This initiative is being implemented in the context of Ho Chi Minh City's efforts to promote major directions for the in-depth development of sports, based on science and technology and digital transformation, aiming to build the city into a modern sports center capable of regional and international integration. The signing ceremony is a concrete realization of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports' policy of standardizing the foundation of modern sports medicine, focusing on the health and performance of athletes.
As assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports , the City's Sports Training and Competition Center is the focal point for directly organizing, coordinating, and implementing the cooperation contents. Through this cooperation program, research results, sleep medicine standards, and scientific solutions will gradually be put into practice in the training, coaching, care, and monitoring of athletes in the city's teams.

Dr. Ly Dai Nghia – Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Training and Competition Center and Prof. Dr. Duong Quy Sy – President of the Vietnam Sleep Medicine Association performed the signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement.
The cooperation focuses on building a comprehensive, in-depth, and long-term collaborative program aimed at forming a modern sports science and medicine ecosystem. Key areas include: training and disseminating knowledge on sports sleep hygiene for coaches, specialists, and athletes; implementing scientific research projects on sleep, recovery, injury prevention, and performance optimization; and applying polysomnography assessment methods combined with sports psychology to develop a personalized, evidence-based training model.
In addition, the two units are also researching the possibility of collaborating to develop a sports medicine training program for athletes, supporting career orientation after competition; and gradually implementing the project to establish a Sports Sleep Medicine Branch under the Vietnam Sleep Medicine Association, creating a specialized hub connecting the biomedical science system and the high-performance sports training network of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.

Immediately following the signing ceremony and exchange of cooperation documents, the program continued with a specialized scientific seminar on "Sleep Medicine and its Importance in Sports Activities." The seminar focused on analyzing the role of sleep in the recovery process, physiological adaptation, injury prevention, and the impact of sleep disorders on the performance of athletes.
Professional presentations were given by leading experts such as Prof. Dr. Duong Quy Sy - President of the Vietnam Sleep Medicine Association; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Khac Bao - Vice President of the Association, Deputy Director of the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Nhu Vinh - Vice President of the Association, Head of the Functional Examination Department, University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City.

Dr. Cao Van Chong – Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports – presented letters of thanks to the speakers who presented papers at the conference.
The event is not only significant from a professional standpoint, but also demonstrates Ho Chi Minh City's determination to pioneer the connection between modern biomedical science and sports training practices, gradually standardizing and improving the quality of athlete training, aiming for sustainable sports development and achieving international standards.
