Ho Chi Minh City: 50 people hospitalized after lunch at the company

About 50 workers showed symptoms of poisoning after lunch at a company in Dong Hung Thuan ward (Ho Chi Minh City).

On November 11, according to information from the leader of the People's Committee of Dong Hung Thuan Ward ( Ho Chi Minh City), through preliminary information at Eternal Prowess Vietnam Joint Stock Company located on National Highway 1A (Ward 13, Dong Hung Thuan Ward), the People's Committee of the ward recorded that there were 410 workers at lunch on November 10.

After lunch, about 50 people with symptoms of nausea, stomachache, red rash, itchy face... were taken to medical units: Trung My Tay General Hospital (received the most - 27 people), Tan Phu Regional Hospital, Tan Binh Regional Hospital, Thanh Cong General Hospital.

Many workers are suspected of being poisoned after lunch at the company.

As of this morning, November 11, the number of people admitted to medical units have been discharged, while one pregnant case is in stable health and the doctor recommended continued monitoring.

According to the People's Committee of Dong Hung Thuan Ward, Eternal Prowess Vietnam Joint Stock Company signed a contract to provide industrial meals with Sao Thien Ha Production Service Trading Company Limited (headquartered in Hanoi ) in the form of organizing a kitchen at the enterprise and having a certificate of facility meeting food safety conditions.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety said they had received the information and were coordinating with the ward to investigate and handle the matter.

Just before that, on November 6-7, in Ho Chi Minh City, there was also an incident where 272 patients were admitted to 13 hospitals in the city with suspected food poisoning after eating bread at Ms. Bich's bread shop (facility 1 Nguyen Thai Son, Hanh Thong ward and facility 2 Le Quang Dinh, Binh Loi Trung ward).

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, clinical and paraclinical data of most patients with food poisoning after eating bread are consistent with intestinal bacteria, most likely Salmonella.

On November 10, the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health) sent a document to the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City regarding the investigation and handling of the suspected food poisoning case after eating Ms. Bich's toad bread. The Department requested that hospitals with patients being treated focus resources on actively treating food poisoning patients, not to affect their health and lives.

Units shall organize investigations and trace the origin of food to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; take food and specimen samples for testing to find the cause; investigate and strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any), and publicize the results to promptly warn the community.
