Earlier, at around 12:30 PM on February 14th, the Thong Tay Hoi Ward Police received a report from Mr. VVC regarding a burglary at his phone store on Le Van Tho Street. Thieves cut the locks and broke in, stealing 51 mobile phones and other valuable items, with total estimated losses exceeding 100 million VND.
Immediately after receiving the report, the authorities promptly reviewed the suspected individual and implemented a comprehensive set of investigative measures. After more than 3 hours of verification, the police arrested Le Tran Duc Anh (born in 1998, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) while he was hiding in a hotel on National Highway 13, and simultaneously seized evidence related to the case.

At the police station, the suspect confessed to all his crimes. Verification revealed that the suspect has three previous convictions for theft and regularly searches social media for targets – mobile phone stores – before preparing tools to cut open the phones and taking advantage of the late night hours to commit the crimes.
The City Police advise residents and shop owners to increase vigilance and strengthen measures to protect their property during the Tet holiday, such as installing cameras, multiple locks, alarm systems, and promptly notifying the authorities when they detect any suspicious signs.
