Ho Chi Minh City: Tu Du Hospital 2nd facility officially inaugurated in Can Gio

Tu Du Hospital, Branch 2, is a collaboration of 9 specialized and general hospitals; in which Tu Du Hospital plays the main coordinating role, in charge of obstetrics and gynecology.

On December 2, Tu Du Hospital, branch 2, was officially inaugurated in Can Gio - one of the remote areas of Ho Chi Minh City.

This is a completely new general hospital model, based on the close association of 9 public specialized and general hospitals to bring high-quality medical services to all people.

Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that for many years, Can Gio residents had to travel a long distance to the city center to access specialized medical services. This journey not only took time and money but also posed many risks when having to cross the sea to the mainland. Therefore, the establishment of Tu Du Hospital 2 will help people to be examined, treated, given emergency aid, and operated on locally by a team of doctors and nurses from the city's leading hospitals.

Other hospitals include Le Van Thinh Hospital, City Children's Hospital, Eye Hospital, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, Dentistry Hospital, Dermatology Hospital, Rehabilitation Hospital - Occupational Disease Treatment Hospital and Traditional Medicine Hospital, which are in charge of specialties according to their own professional strengths. Thanks to the flexible coordination mechanism, Tu Du Hospital 2 operates as a comprehensive general hospital, ensuring the provision of full technical expertise to serve the people of Can Gio.

After the first 3 weeks of operation, the number of medical examinations and treatments at Tu Du Hospital, Branch 2, increased 2-3 times compared to the previous operation of Can Gio Medical Center. The hospital has performed a number of emergency laparoscopic surgeries and safe cesarean sections. Notably, the rate of transfers from Can Gio to higher-level hospitals has decreased by more than 90%...

The establishment of Tu Du Hospital 2 not only meets the immediate needs for medical examination and treatment, but also opens a new direction in the organization of the health network of Ho Chi Minh City. That is to develop according to a multi-polar model, linking multi-specialty-multi-hospital, making the most of available potential to serve people more fairly and effectively.
