On the afternoon of February 10th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held the third consultative conference to select the list of qualified candidates for the 16th National Assembly, term 2026-2031, and the third consultative conference to select the list of qualified candidates for the 11th City People's Council, term 2026-2031.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City, presided over the conferences. Representatives from the City Party Committee, the City People's Council, and the City People's Committee also attended the conferences.
At the third consultative conference to select the list of qualified candidates for the 16th National Assembly , term 2026-2031, Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, reported on the situation and results of organizing the collection of opinions and the trust of voters in their workplaces and places of residence regarding the candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
Accordingly, on February 8th, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City and the Standing Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of communes, wards, and special zones, in coordination with the People's Committees at the same level, completed the organization of conferences to gather opinions from voters residing in their areas regarding 60 candidates for the 16th National Assembly (according to the list of results from the second consultative conference).
The results showed that 54 out of 60 candidates received a confidence rating above 50%, and 6 candidates withdrew their applications from the list of candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
The delegates attending the Conference discussed, selected, and voted, achieving a 100% approval rate for the list of 48 qualified candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

Delegates attending the third consultative conference to select and compile a list of qualified candidates for the XI City People's Council, term 2026-2031, heard reports on the situation and results of organizing the collection of opinions and trust from voters in their workplaces and places of residence regarding the candidates; they then discussed, selected, and voted on the list of qualified candidates for the XI City People's Council, term 2026-2031.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized a conference to gather opinions and assess the confidence of voters in their residential areas regarding 215 candidates for the 11th term of the City People's Council. As a result, 211 candidates received over 50% of the vote, with 2 withdrawing their candidacy after the conference.
Delegates attending the Conference discussed, selected, and unanimously voted to approve the list of 209 qualified candidates for the XI City People's Council, term 2026-2031.
According to regulations, Ho Chi Minh City has 13 constituencies for electing National Assembly representatives, with 38 representatives to be elected to the 16th National Assembly; and 42 constituencies for electing City People's Council representatives, with 125 representatives to be elected to the 11th City People's Council.
On the same day, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a handover ceremony for the Minutes of the Third Consultative Conference and the List of Qualified Candidates for the 11th National Assembly and the 11th City People's Council, term 2026-2031, to the Election Committee for the 16th National Assembly and the 11th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2026-2031, in accordance with the law.
