After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City received two large-scale medical projects including the 1,500-bed Binh Duong General Hospital and the 300-bed Binh Duong Psychiatric Hospital.
Although most of the items have been completed, both projects are still "shelved", many areas are abandoned and degraded, causing waste and affecting people's need for medical examination and treatment.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health , while waiting for the City People's Council to approve the renovation policy, the Department proposed to temporarily hand over the Mental Hospital as facility 4 of the Ho Chi Minh City Mental Hospital, and at the same time urgently repair it to put it into use.
The Department of Health also recommended that the Project Management Board speed up progress, striving to put the 1,500-bed Binh Duong General Hospital into operation in 2026, meeting the needs of medical examination and treatment after the merger./
