In particular, along Ba Tam and Bay Goi canals (Thu Dau Mot ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the high tide rose very quickly during the night. In Bau Bang commune, the high tide caused landslides, collapsing the house of Mr. Hua Quoc Trung, sweeping away his mother, Mrs. Nham Nu (born in 1946). Officers and soldiers coordinated to organize rescue and relief operations throughout the night, searching for the victims' bodies.
The Defense Command of Area 2 - Phu Loi (Ho Chi Minh City Command) and the Military Commands of wards in the tidal-affected areas have coordinated to mobilize more than 1,000 officers, soldiers and militia to participate in rescue and overcome the consequences of the tidal surge. From small actions, a light to light the way, a sandbag to protect the shore or shared gifts, officers and soldiers have contributed to helping people overcome the historic tidal surge.
In the midst of harsh natural disasters, the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers shine even brighter, simple, steadfast, and devoted to the people. It is during nights of rising tides like these that the image of the soldiers is even more deeply engraved in the hearts of the people of the city named after beloved Uncle Ho - a city of affection, resilience, solidarity, dynamism, creativity, and efforts to overcome difficulties to break through.
