Ho Chi Minh City proposes press rewards, first prize 80 million VND

The Ho Chi Minh City Press Awards and quarterly rewards and support for good works demonstrate respect and recognition of the contributions of journalists to the development of the city.

On the morning of December 9, the 10th term of Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, 2021-2026 term, opened its 6th session (regular year-end session).

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, presented 49 reports on socio -economic issues to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council. Among them, there was a report on the draft Resolution of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council regulating the content and level of expenditure for the Ho Chi Minh City Press Awards; supporting good and excellent press works written about Ho Chi Minh City.

The 6th session of the 10th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2021-2026 took place on the morning of December 9.

According to the submission, this Resolution applies to collectives and individuals of Ho Chi Minh City press agencies, other central and local press agencies operating in Ho Chi Minh City and other organizations and individuals related to the implementation of the Resolution.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Loc Ha, on behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, presented to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council 49 reports related to socio-economic issues.

For press works that won the Ho Chi Minh City Press Award, the expenses are divided into 6 groups. The Party Building Group's first prize is 80 million VND; 2 second prizes are 60 million VND/each; 3 third prizes are 40 million VND/each and 3 consolation prizes are 15 million VND/each.

The first prizes for the remaining 5 groups are: Collective works (75 million VND); Reportage, investigation, journalistic signature, documentary (60 million VND); Political commentary (55 million VND); Interview, reportage, quick note (35 million VND) and Press news and images (35 million VND).

Regarding expenditure content, the expenditure level for good and excellent press works written about Ho Chi Minh City is considered for quarterly support, divided into 6 content groups.

Specifically, the Reportage, Investigation, Interview, Documentary, Special Page, Special Column Group; Forum Group or Forum-like Products are supported with 8 million/work, maximum 15 works/group.

Political groups (commentaries, editorials, treatises, etc.), reports; Photo reportage groups; multimedia journalism groups (infographics, videos , podcasts, etc.) are supported with 5 million VND/work, maximum 10 works/group.

News - Photo Group is supported with 3 million VND/work, maximum 10 works.

The funding source for implementation is from the State budget. The total estimated funding for implementation in 1 year is 1.92 billion VND for the Ho Chi Minh City Press Award; 1.68 billion VND for supporting good and excellent press works written about Ho Chi Minh City.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that over the years, the City Party Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee have always paid special attention to and closely directed information and propaganda work; considering the press as a vanguard force on the ideological and cultural front, contributing to strengthening social trust, creating consensus among the people and promoting the sustainable development of the city.

Organizing the Ho Chi Minh City Press Awards with other forms of commendation and support for excellent press works every quarter is a major policy, demonstrating respect and recognition of the contributions of journalists to the common development of Ho Chi Minh City.
