The weather in Ho Chi Minh City is cold and the sky is covered in a thick layer of fog that obscures residential areas and high-rise buildings, limiting visibility.
Early morning of December 6, Ho Chi Minh City was covered in fog, the whole city was covered by a thick layer of fog. This fog has lasted for many days. Yesterday, the fog decreased but this morning it increased again.
According to observation, at a visibility of less than 1km, most high-rise buildings and residential areas are obscured in opaque white.
Along with the fog, the temperature in Ho Chi Minh City in the early morning is also low, from 22-24 degrees Celsius, creating a chilly feeling. People going out must wear warm clothes, gloves and masks to keep their bodies warm.
At 9am, the fog still appeared at low and high altitudes, the sky was partly cloudy, and the sunlight was very weak.
According to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Station, the weather in the South is being affected by the equatorial low pressure trough with an axis of 5-8 degrees north latitude. Northeast winds operate at moderate intensity over the seas of the South. Above, the subtropical high pressure with an axis over the Central region is weakening slightly. The easterly wind disturbance above is still operating at decreasing intensity.
Therefore, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City will have times when the clouds are less, with intermittent sunshine; in the afternoon and evening, there will be scattered rain and thunderstorms, with some places having moderate rain (the area of rain gradually decreasing compared to the past 24 hours). During thunderstorms, beware of strong gusts of wind. Rain will be concentrated mainly in the eastern coastal areas and the western provinces.
According to a hydrometeorological expert, the hazy sky in Ho Chi Minh City is caused by mixed fog.
Specifically, in recent days, Ho Chi Minh City has had rain and high humidity. When there is water vapor, plus air pollution from smoke, dust, and suspended substances in the air (also known as fine dust particles), it has caused the dew and water vapor particles to stick together, creating an opaque fog.
Experts warn people not to be subjective or negligent in the face of this mixed fog phenomenon.
"The thick layer of smog shows that there is a lot of dust and suspended matter in the air. This will affect people's health, especially pregnant women and children. People need to cover up carefully when going out," the expert said.
