From a distance of less than 1km, areas along the Saigon River such as Thu Thiem Bridge, connecting Binh Thanh District and Thu Duc City, high-rise buildings such as Landmark 81, Bitexco or apartments along the Saigon River... are all covered, creating a blurry scene.

Mr. Le Dinh Quyet - Head of Forecasting Department, Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that the fog phenomenon is due to cold air in the North diffusing deep to the South, causing the air temperature to decrease.

At the same time, a low pressure trough is formed in the southern sea, above the trough there are areas of moisture convergence, creating quite high humidity in the air, early in the morning most provinces and cities have humidity above 80%.

“Today’s fog will continue into the afternoon. This is a normal meteorological phenomenon, as long as there are favorable conditions such as high humidity, low air temperature, and light wind, fog or mist can easily form. At the same time, because Ho Chi Minh City has many high-rise buildings, reducing the ability to circulate air, the fog dissipates more slowly every day.

This phenomenon is not classified as dangerous weather, however dense fog will reduce horizontal visibility, affecting traffic activities," Mr. Quyet added.

In addition, Mr. Quyet also informed that this fog will continue for a few more days, then return to normal. From now until the end of the year, in January and February, there is still a possibility of some days with similar fog, whenever the cold air is strong.
