On the afternoon of December 8, the National Cyber Security Association (NCA) held a launching ceremony for the Southern Branch. This branch operates in the southern provinces, from Da Nang to Ca Mau .
Lieutenant General Nguyen Minh Chinh - Permanent Vice President of NCA - affirmed that the establishment of the Southern Branch not only comes from the practical requirements of cyber security protection but also has strategic significance for the socio -economic development of the whole country.
The Southern Branch aims to connect and directly deploy cybersecurity tasks, develop human resources, raise awareness, and strengthen defense capacity for the entire region in particular and Vietnam's digital economy in general.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - said that the city is entering a new phase of development, connecting regional and international growth poles. Technology, innovation and digital transformation are identified as important driving forces to create breakthroughs.
In that context, cybersecurity plays a vital role; it is a shield to protect assets, data, and national sovereignty ; it creates a foundation for the development of the digital economy and digital government; it strengthens the trust of people and businesses; it promotes innovation; and it ensures that online activities take place smoothly and safely.
According to the city leader, Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on investing in digital infrastructure, attracting large corporations to invest in data centers, and at the same time recommending the Central Government to complete the legal corridor to ensure information security and continuous operation of the online public service system. The city also encourages research and production of domestic cybersecurity products to increase technological initiative and reduce dependence on external sources.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc assessed that the establishment of the Southern Branch is of great significance. The Branch will be a bridge to strengthen coordination between state management agencies, specialized forces, teams of experts, training institutions and the technology business community in the Southern region.
Major General Le Xuan Minh - Director of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05), Ministry of Public Security - said that ensuring national sovereignty in cyberspace, protecting network security, data security and information security of organizations and individuals are consistent and inseparable requirements in the process of national development and digital transformation.
In addition to the achievements, Mr. Le Xuan Minh also pointed out many challenges that threaten national security and social order and safety from cyberspace. In particular, cyber attacks and cyber espionage activities are becoming increasingly complex, especially in the context of the political system implementing comprehensive digital transformation.
This unit also regularly detects a series of supply chain attack methods targeting dozens of corporations and key businesses in the fields of media, finance, technology, energy, transportation, postal services, and healthcare.
The situation of data leakage, leakage, and illegal trading of personal data is extremely complicated. On many forums and groups, hundreds of data sets are being sold in many different fields, including banking, insurance, securities, etc.
According to this person, high-tech criminals create sophisticated fraud scenarios; closely linked to human trafficking and cross-border extortion. The financial and banking sector has very complex potential risks such as system attacks to appropriate assets, steal customer data; impersonate bank employees to guide card opening, increase credit limits, etc.
According to Major General Le Xuan Minh, Ho Chi Minh City is the largest economic, financial, commercial and technological center in the country, where many important digital infrastructure systems and technology enterprises are concentrated.
