TPO - The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement the Project "Developing river embankments and riverside service economy ". According to the project, this is one of the main orientations in developing the economy associated with rivers in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the project, in addition to organizing and implementing activities and supplementing requirements for spatial development planning along the Saigon River, the implementation of the Project "Developing river embankments and riverside service economy in Ho Chi Minh City" also orients the roadmap for implementing economic development associated with rivers in the next phase.

In particular, the project will determine the vision and orientation to ensure synchronous management, through which relevant agencies will then propose investment principles or solutions to be implemented in the area to research and propose standards and regulations for collecting and managing relevant data in planning law, regulations on land management, river embankments and riverbank protection corridors, ensuring compliance with construction investment management practices.
From there, the management agency will have the basis to effectively coordinate resources to identify and build a map of the locations of existing river embankments on the Saigon River; propose a roadmap, plan, and solutions for building river embankments, exploiting and effectively promoting land resources in areas along the Saigon River, ensuring a balance of land resources for construction investment; improving the landscape and natural environment, responding to climate change in the area and proposing training programs, fostering management human resources, attracting experts to serve related economic service groups.
According to the project, relevant authorities need to coordinate and propose with relevant units to ensure a legal corridor on management and use regulations to promptly adjust and complete the construction plan for temporary and permanent embankments, green infrastructure, riverside traffic, especially with policies to support and encourage investors, prioritize the implementation of public works such as boat parking lots, commerce, services, parks; cooperate internationally to study planning strategies and development management, propose green infrastructure models (technical infrastructure and social infrastructure) to effectively use the corridor along the Saigon River.
Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that the City's leaders have also assigned the Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City as the standing agency, presiding over and coordinating with relevant departments, branches, sectors and units to implement, report on the progress and results of the implementation of the project "Developing river embankments and riverside service economy in Ho Chi Minh City".
The Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City will be responsible for advising the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to update or adjust policies, programs and implementation plans; synthesize requests and recommendations to report to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for consideration and approval to integrate relevant contents of the project into the work of making the general planning project of the City until 2040, with a vision to 2060.
