Ho Chi Minh City launches community drowning prevention project

Attending the program launch ceremony were Mr. Ly Dai Nghia, Vice President of the Vietnam Paralympic Committee and representatives of agencies and departments of Ho Chi Minh City.

The community drowning prevention project aims to support and facilitate all children to access and learn swimming skills, preventing drowning accidents safely and effectively.

During the summer vacation, the risk of children drowning is always present in Ho Chi Minh City and major cities (scene of a girl drowning in a swimming pool in Binh Duong province at the end of April 2024).

In addition, the Vietnam Community Sports Development Organization and the Vietnam Paralympic Committee also signed an agreement to focus on popularizing and providing free swimming courses and drowning prevention training, especially for people with disabilities and disadvantaged children under the guidance of experts, teachers and professional coaches.

The community drowning prevention project also aims to raise public awareness of drowning prevention through communication channels.

At the same time, popularize free swimming for the community; sponsor and provide measures and equipment to ensure safety against drowning; build a network to coordinate and implement child drowning prevention work in Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.
