Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Mai, Vice Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said that the Vietnamese Language Exchange will help overseas Vietnamese youth and students overcome language and cultural barriers and confusion to create an evening of complete joy together.
“The theme of this year’s Summer Camp is “Together we continue to write the story of peace” – a story that would not be complete without Vietnamese, because Vietnamese is our mother tongue, a symbol of culture, history and national identity, of the aspiration for independence and sustainable development of the Vietnamese people,” said Ms. Mai.

At the Exchange, young overseas Vietnamese will sing together, read poems, act out plays, share their feelings… in the beloved Vietnamese language – the language of family, of memories, and also the source of national culture. For many overseas Vietnamese, Vietnamese is a second language, or even a new language, but with the meaning of the Vietnamese Exchange program, even though their Vietnamese may not be fluent, the love that everyone has for each other is still complete.
110 overseas Vietnamese delegates will be divided into 6 teams, regardless of country or region, each team will register 1 performance. The scoring criteria are based on factors such as: The performance has a clear and coherent structure; Conveys a message, meaning and Ability to use Vietnamese fluently.

Over the years, the Vietnamese community abroad, with its unceasing efforts, has been gradually preserving and reviving the Vietnamese language in foreign lands. The Party and Government have always identified this as an important task and have proposed many policies to preserve and promote the national cultural identity and the Vietnamese language in the community.
In August 2022, the Prime Minister approved the Project on Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the Vietnamese Community Abroad for the period 2022-2030. The Project has received positive responses, with many exciting, rich and substantial activities, initially creating a strong change in the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese in the Vietnamese community abroad.
