The children's picture book exhibition "Spring is Here!" is based on two picture books, "Spring Invites the Earth to Bloom" and "Spring Calls the Sky to Be Bathed in Sunlight ," with the goal of bringing the world of books into real life. Instead of just reading, readers—especially children—can directly experience spring through various senses.

The highlight of the exhibition lies in how picture books are treated as a creative "material." According to author Quynh Huong, representing Slowbooks, picture books are a vibrant cultural resource capable of connecting children with their families and the world around them. Expanding the life of books through experiential spaces helps children access books naturally and without pressure.

Within the exhibition space, the two picture books are "liberated" from their familiar forms to become multi-sensory touchpoints. Viewers not only see the pictures and read the text but also smell the scent of the traditional New Year, touch the materials used in the installations, and walk amidst glimpses of nature and Tet (Vietnamese New Year) life. Despite taking place in an enclosed space, the exhibition evokes the feeling of opening up a vast spring, where earth and sky, inside and outside the pages of the book, intertwine.

The two picture books chosen as the foundation for the exhibition are structured as a symmetrical pair. "Spring Invites the Earth to Bloom" tells the story of spring in Northern Vietnam with the journey home of the little girl in red hat, associated with reunion, togetherness, and familiar preparations for Tet. Meanwhile, "Spring Calls the Sky to Be Sun-Drenched " follows the little girl with the carrot-shaped ponytail and her father to the Tet market, reflecting the bustling atmosphere of small business families trying to make a living.

Beyond just displaying exhibits, the exhibition also features many interactive activities such as puppet shows, improvisational theater, creative reading, cultural workshops, and training programs to discover new picture book authors.

From the story of "Here Comes A Xuan!" , the exhibition explores the possibility of picture books becoming a starting point for children's early artistic experiences, going beyond the confines of the paper page.

The exhibition runs until February 4th at Mơ Art Space (B3 floor, 136 Hang Trong Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi).
