The propaganda session attracted the attention of many students thanks to its vivid communication style, associated with many real-life situations. Officers of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention provided students with useful information about online fraud and kidnapping tricks as well as instructions on how to identify, prevent and handle suspicious situations in cyberspace.

Le Bao Trung, a 10th grade Math 1 student (Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted), shared: “I started using social networks since I was a middle school student. Social networks help me connect with friends, update information and find study materials very conveniently. However, if I do not know how to control my time and select content, it is easy to get caught up in social networks, affecting my studies and health. Therefore, I am always careful with personal information and especially apply time management tools on my phone. I realize that only when I have these digital skills can I master technology, instead of letting technology control me.”

Students of Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted are able to identify forms of fraud on the internet through specific situations.

Nowadays, social networks have become a familiar part of students' lives. At the age of forming personality and thinking, the lack of orientation when using technology makes many students easily deviate from the norm in behavior or be negatively affected by bad and toxic information. Digital skills are therefore not only a learning tool but also a "shield" to help students protect themselves from temptation and the risk of online abuse.

Schools play a fundamental role in guiding and equipping students with knowledge. With the role of comprehensive education , schools have organized many extracurricular activities and digital skills seminars to help students identify fake news, distinguish reliable content and understand how to use social networks civilly.

Ms. Phan Thi Minh Hong - Secretary of the Youth Union of Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted shared: "In addition to providing academic knowledge, the school always guides students on how to use technology intelligently and safely, from account security, cultural interactions on social networks to distinguishing accurate and fake information. We want students to realize that protecting themselves in cyberspace comes from their own responsibility and behavior."

Parents accompany their children.

In addition to schools, families also play an important role in reinforcing children’s knowledge and skills in using social networks safely. When schools have provided the foundation, the companionship, guidance and smart supervision from parents help students effectively apply what they have learned, while developing habits of using technology with clear purposes.

“I don’t forbid my children from using phones or social networks because it’s a trend. But I set a specific time and guide them on how to recognize fake news and harmful content. I also talk to and accompany my children regularly so that they always feel protected and ready to share when they encounter problems,” said Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam (Huong Son commune).

Together with schools and families, recently, Ha Tinh authorities have deployed many preventive measures, coordinating with schools and organizations in propaganda work.

Protecting students in the age of technology is important, not only to prevent risks but also to create conditions for them to develop digital skills.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Truong Dieu - Head of the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (Ha Tinh Provincial Police) said that teenagers are the most vulnerable group in the digital age. The subjects often use sophisticated tricks, from making friends, chatting to luring people to meet or enticing them to participate in illegal acts. There are cases where private images are used to threaten and blackmail. Therefore, protecting children cannot only rely on the authorities but requires the cooperation of the whole society.

"Propaganda is the most fundamental and effective solution. Therefore, we are expanding direct propaganda sessions at schools and residential areas, and at the same time taking advantage of social networks to disseminate knowledge and warn of new tricks. When students clearly understand the risks and know how to protect themselves, the prevention effect will be much higher" - Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Truong Dieu also emphasized.

Protecting students in the digital age is not only about preventing risks but also creating conditions for them to develop digital skills when they know how to use the Internet to study and create. When schools, families and society work together, every small action such as chatting, guiding or organizing educational topics contributes to creating a "safe belt" for students in cyberspace. When equipped with solid digital skills, understanding the law and receiving support from those around them, students will know how to protect themselves. This is an important foundation for building a safe, humane and valuable learning environment in the digital age.
