On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin - 2024, this morning, January 27, the Association of People with Disabilities, Agent Orange Victims, Support for People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights (PWD, NNDC, BTNKT&BVQTE) of the province organized a program to give gifts for the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin - 2024 to PWD, NNDC, and children in especially difficult circumstances in Cam Lo, Dakrong and Huong Hoa districts. At the program, the organizers presented 240 gifts, each worth 500,000 VND including cash and necessities; and presented wheelchairs and walkers to disadvantaged people in the three districts mentioned above.
In Dakrong district alone, the organizing committee awarded 3 more charity houses worth 70 million VND each; and donated a batch of clothes worth 85 million VND sponsored by charitable organizations to the district's especially difficult circumstances.
It is known that the Tet gift giving program for the year of the Dragon - 2024 was implemented by the Association of the Disabled, the Disabled, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Vietnam Fatherland Front in 9 districts, towns and cities from January 15. Cam Lo, Dakrong and Huong Hoa are the last 3 localities in this year's Tet gift giving period. The total value of the entire program is nearly 1.5 billion VND.
Speaking at the program, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province, Dao Manh Hung, said that the whole province of Quang Tri currently has nearly 24,000 households in difficult circumstances. In 2023, despite being negatively affected by the economy , local authorities and organizations, including the Association of the Disabled, NNDC, and BTNKT&BVQTTE, have always made efforts to care for the lives of the disadvantaged in the area.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, the Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee thanked the attention and support of charitable units and individuals for the province's disadvantaged people during the New Year holiday.
