The campaign was organized simultaneously at 8/8 commune and ward health stations and kindergartens in the area. Accordingly, children from 6 months to under 5 years old in the whole province and those at high risk of vitamin A deficiency such as children with measles, severe acute malnutrition, prolonged diarrhea, acute respiratory infections were given free vitamin A.
Through screening, the entire region has nearly 20,000 children needing vitamin A supplements, including: more than 1,700 children from 6 months to under 1 year old (taking 100,000 IU tablets) and children from 12 months to under 5 years old (taking 200,000 IU tablets).
During the campaign, health workers directly guide parents to monitor reactions after drinking and fully record the list of children who drank, with confirmation from parents, teachers or caregivers.
According to the plan, this campaign will be implemented until December 15 at health stations and schools in the area, aiming to ensure that 98% of children of the right age receive vitamin A, contributing significantly to the prevention of malnutrition and health protection, preventing the risk of micronutrient deficiency, protecting eyesight and enhancing children's immunity.
