Resolutely and synchronously deploy solutions to combat IUU fishing

QTO - On the evening of November 11, Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member and Prime Minister chaired the national online meeting of the National Steering Committee against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. Comrade Hoang Nam, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee against IUU fishing and members of the Steering Committee and related units attended at the Quang Tri province bridge.

According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , recently, ministries, branches and localities have continued to implement tasks and solutions to combat IUU fishing under the direction of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee on IUU. Localities have classified and compiled a list of fishing vessels that are not eligible for registration or are not eligible for fishing licenses and assigned local authorities and functional forces to monitor and manage to ensure that they do not participate in fishing activities. Localities have also effectively controlled fishing vessels entering and leaving ports, monitored output through ports according to regulations, and ensured transparency and legality in tracing the origin of exported exploited aquatic products.

At the meeting, representatives of sectors and localities reported on the work of combating IUU fishing in recent times; the solutions that sectors and localities have focused on implementing to effectively carry out the work of combating IUU fishing.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the results and efforts of the Steering Committee, ministries, branches and localities in combating IUU fishing and requested relevant ministries, branches and localities to continue to resolutely and synchronously implement solutions to combat IUU fishing. Localities closely monitor fishing activities of fishing vessels, not allowing vessels to violate regulations on fishing at sea. Absolutely do not allow fishing vessels that are not qualified to go to sea to fish.

In the coming days, the authorities will concentrate their forces, continue to patrol, control and handle illegal fishing activities. Propaganda and build responsible fishing habits for fishermen, for the honor of the country, for the benefit of the people so that Vietnam can soon remove the "Yellow Card" warning from the European Commission.
