This event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Indochina Fine Arts School - Vietnam University of Fine Arts, organized by the Vietnam University of Fine Arts in collaboration with the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, Hanoi . Notably, the opening ceremony of the exhibition on November 14 had the presence of Ms. Alix Turolla Tardieu, Mr. Giacomo Tardieu - descendant of painter Victor Tardieu, the first Principal of the Indochina Fine Arts School; Mr. Arnault Fontani - descendant of sculptor Évariste Jonchère, the second Principal of the Indochina Fine Arts School.

In his opening speech, Dr. Dang Phong Lan, Principal of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, said that the exhibition is a proud achievement of a century of fine arts training, from the Indochina Fine Arts School to the Vietnam University of Fine Arts today. The exhibition includes works by French lecturers who have devoted themselves to building, maintaining and developing the Indochina Fine Arts School, the first school to train according to Western academic methods while always encouraging the ability to learn, exploit and develop Vietnamese art traditions. The largest part of the exhibition displays works by generations of teachers and students of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts through historical periods - continuing, building and developing the school associated with the revolutionary journey for independence, unification, innovation and international integration of the country.

According to Ms. Lan, the exhibition also brings to the public a part of the appearance of modern Vietnamese fine arts. Because all the works of this exhibition have outstanding aesthetic, ideological and technical characteristics of the historical periods of modern Vietnamese fine arts from 1925 to the present, and most notably, they were all created by generations of teachers and students of the Indochina Fine Arts School - Vietnam University of Fine Arts over the past century.
Since the opening of the first course of the Indochina Fine Arts School in November 1925, the first academic fine arts school in Indochina has become the cradle of many generations of talented fine arts creators and researchers for the country and has made an important contribution to the creation of modern Vietnamese fine arts.

The organizers said that most of the paintings and sculptures displayed in the exhibition are works that are rarely or never published. The works are presented with a variety of materials and rich forms, telling the fullest possible story about the school's training journey. This is also the first time after 100 years of formation and development, through their creations, teachers and students of generations from the Indochina Fine Arts School to the Vietnam University of Fine Arts have gathered in an exhibition to create together the sweet tones of colors and shapes, of emotions, intelligence and spirit to create a modern fine art imbued with the national identity of Vietnam.

The exhibition consists of consecutive sections in the space of 2 floors of thematic exhibitions at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum: French teachers - inspiration for students and modern Vietnamese fine arts (works of French lecturers from the collection of A&V Foundation); Indochina Fine Arts School (1925-1945) - students yearning for a new look of national fine arts; College of Fine Arts (1945-1957) - the transition from Indochina Fine Arts to Revolutionary Fine Arts serving the Resistance War (works from the period 1945-1946 and belonging to the Resistance War course, including sketches from the collection of artist Ngo Manh Lan's family);
